Both Parties are Crooks

Trillions of dollars have gone missing from the Federal government and no one is doing anything about it. If you tried to run a business you had thousands, or millions missing, someone would have to pay. Someone would get fined at the very least, or get dragged through court. They lost Trillions. Not billions. TRILLIONS of dollars. And no one or thing is being held accountable. Think of that next time some politician wants to raise taxes or talks about people not paying their “fair share”

We really need to send most of the politicians home and a severe housecleaning of government agencies needs to happen, because that’s where a lot of the problems lie. because crooks in power are stealing from the people and bankrupting us. It’s like a Mafia bustout.

OJ Did It

TMZ claims to have the manuscript to OJ Simpson’s book: “If I Did It”. A snippet.

I noticed the knife in Charlie’s hand, and in one deft move I removed my right glove and snatched it up. “We’re not going anywhere,” I said, turning to face Goldman. Goldman was still circling me, bobbing and weaving, but I didn’t feel like laughing anymore. “You think you’re tough, motherfucker?” I said. I could hear Charlie just behind me, saying something, urging me to get the fuck out of there, and at one point he even reached for me and tried to drag me away, but I shook him off, hard, and moved toward Goldman. “Okay, motherfucker!” I said. “Show me how tough you are!”

Then something went horribly wrong, and I know what happened, but I can’t tell you exactly how. I was still standing in Nicole’s courtyard, of course, but for a few moments I couldn’t remember how I’d gotten there, when I’d arrived, or even why I was there. Then it came back to me, very slowly: The recital-with little Sydney up on stage, dancing her little heart out; me, chipping balls into my neighbor’s yard; Paula, angry, not answering her phone; Charlie, stopping by the house to tell me some more ugly shit about Nicole’s behavior. Then what? The short, quick drive from Rockingham to the Bundy condo. And now?

Now I was standing in Nicole’s courtyard, in the dark, listening to the loud, rhythmic, accelerated beating of my own heart. I put my left hand to my heart and my shirt felt strangely wet. I looked down at myself. For several moments, I couldn’t get my mind around what I was seeing. The whole front of me was covered in blood, but it didn’t compute. Is this really blood? I wondered. And whose blood is it? Is it mine? Am I hurt?

Outrage DuJour

Two police officers in the Kathryn Johnston case have pled guilty of manslaughter. They face 10 and 12 years in prison, respectively. They pled in exchange for testimony about the “culture of corruption” among narcotics officers in the Atlanta Police Department.

As I’ve written before, I’m not particularly fond of felony murder in principle, so I think this is an appropriate charge. And if the plea helps to uncover more fundamental problems with the way Atlanta police its drug crimes, all the better. And it looks like it’s doing exactly that.

We now know that Kathryn Johnston fired only a single bullet, through the door as police were trying to break in. They responded with a storm of bullets, which apparently both wounded Johnston and the officers themselves. When they realized their fatal error, they planted cocaine and marijuana in the woman’s home. They then pressured an uninvolved informant to testify to having made controlled buys at Johnston’s home to cover their tracks.

The New York Times is now reporting that the officers have told federal investigators that their behavior was not out of the ordinary. That corruption, planting evidence, and giving false testimony are routine at APD. That’s not surprising. The only way these officers could think they’d get away with all of this is if they were operating within a system that routinely allows for—or even encourages—such behavior. APD’s focus on arrest numbers and professional rewards for the big bust apparently incentivized such short cuts.

You have to wonder how common this is across the country. The planting of drugs has to be the oldest trick in the book. When the woman in question is 92 years old, theyblew their credibility out the window. But it’s not as simple for younger people. The cops proably get away with it all the time. Our prisons are full of people arrested on drug charges and the cost to tax payers is astronomical.

A good film that explores framing suspects is “A Thin Blue Line” by Errol Morris. It does happen. How common it is probably depends on the city, but whatever the number is, it’s too much.

Forget the war on terror, the war on Drugs has been a colossal waste of money and resources. Instead of sending users away we should be looking for solutions to the problem. Instead of busting people for things like marijuana, the police could be going after gangs instead.

Prohibition only made the mob rich and powerful. Drug prohibition has done the same and the war on drugs is not solving the problem. It’s time for some new tactics.

Oh, Please

Attention Fred Flintstone and the Geico cave guys: “Stone Age” is no longer acceptable, joining the list of other words and terms deemed offensive in polite society. “Primitive” also is considered, well, primitive by some.
“All anthropologists would agree that the negative use of the terms ‘primitive’ and ‘Stone Age’ to describe tribal peoples has serious implications for their welfare,” the British-based Association of Social Anthropologists said Tuesday. “Governments and other social groups have long used these ideas as a pretext of depriving such peoples of land and their resources.”
The edict is the result of a kerfuffle that began last March when Jenny Tonge, a Liberal Democrat member of Parliament, described two Botswana tribes as “trying to stay in the Stone Age” and “primitive” during a spirited debate. Though she later said she was misunderstood, Mrs. Tonge was criticized in the British press as “primitive” herself.

Washington Times

I will ignore this like I ignore all PC edicts. PC must die. Enough is enough.

Crossing the Line

It looks like Putin’s thuggery is crossing our shores. Unbelievable.

Federal and local law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting in Prince George’s County that critically injured a prominent intelligence expert who specializes in the former Soviet Union.

Paul Joyal, 53, was shot Thursday, four days after he alleged in a television broadcast that the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin was involved in the fatal poisoning of a former KGB agent in London.

Law enforcement sources and sources close to Joyal, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case, said the motive for the shooting was unclear. But several sources confirmed that FBI investigators are looking into the incident because of Joyal’s background as an intelligence expert and his comments about the Alexander Litvinenko case.

Murdering his critics in foreign countries, and even shooting them on US shores is really pushing the envelope. I wonder if we’re going to end up in another cold war with Russia. They seem to be asking for it.

The Date Rape Myth

Rape is a nasty subject, but the truth is the media loves to hate the male gender and they also love salacious stories. But a recent study shows that most women who claim they were slipped date rape drugs were just plain drunk.

Women who claim to be victims of ‘date-rape’ drugs such as Rohypnol have in fact been rendered helpless by binge-drinking, says a study by doctors.

They found no evidence that any woman seeking help from emergency doctors because their drinks were allegedly spiked had actually been given these drugs.

Around one in five tested positive for recreational drugs while two-thirds had been drinking heavily.

The findings further erode the theory that there is widespread use of Rohypnol and GHB, another drug said to be favoured by predatory rapists.

This was a UK study, but I’m sure the same would be true if it was done here. People like to blame outside things for their own stupidity. And our culture has become increasingly misandronistic.

If someone gets falling down drunk, they should be surprised if they get jacked. Especially if they do it in public, or in a pick up bar.

Outrage DuJour

The prosecutor in this case should be the one getting beaten in prison. And shame on the president and the governor of this state for letting this happen. The fact that they didn’t pardon these men is a huge disgrace.

A former U.S. Border Patrol agent who was convicted of shooting a drug smuggling suspect and then lying about it was beaten by fellow inmates in prison, his relatives and a congressman said Tuesday.

Prison officials did not immediately confirm that Ignacio Ramos had been attacked.

The convictions of Ramos and fellow former agent Jose Alonso Compean sparked outcry from critics who argued that the men were merely doing their job defending the border against criminals.

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., a vocal supporter of the agents and opponent of illegal immigration, criticized the Bush administration Tuesday for failing to protect Ramos and demanded a full presidential pardon for the two men.

“Not only did the administration choose the side of a foreign dope runner over the agents who stopped him from smuggling a load of drugs into the county _ now they’ve failed to protect that agent while his case is on appeal,” he said in a statement.

Ramos and Compean, who reported to prison in January, were each sentenced to more than a decade behind bars. Ramos is being held at a medium- and low-security federal facility at Yazoo City, Miss. Compean is serving his sentence at the Elkton Federal Correctional Institution in Ohio; no problems have been reported with his detention.

Injustice and Incompetance March On

Just hours remain before two Texas Border Patrol agents — convicted of shooting a Mexican drug runner in the backside while on duty — are to turn themselves in to U.S. Marshals, and there’s still no word on whether President Bush will grant them a pardon.

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean are scheduled to begin serving 11 and 12 years, respectively, on Wednesday when they turn themselves in at 3 p.m. ET for the February 2005 non-fatal shooting of Osvaldo Aldrete Davila.

Several groups, including Friends of the Border Patrol, The Minutemen and Grassfire.org, have been trying through petitions to keep the agents out of prison — through either a motion to U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone to allow them to remain free on bond during an appeal or through a presidential pardon from Bush.

But Cardone on Tuesday denied a motion for the two ex-agents to remain free on bond until their appeals.

These border patrol officers are being sent to long prison terms for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler in the buttocks. Not for killing him, but for shooting a fleeing suspect.

What does that tell you about how serious our government is protecting the borders? They imprison border patrol agents for doing their job.

If Bush refuses to pardon these officers as he’s being asked, he is going to seal his reputation as the president who surrendered to Mexico.
