The Obama Myth

While I generally like Obama, I have no plans on voting for him. I prefer him to Hillary by a country mile, but he doesn’t inspire enough confidence in me to want him as president. For one thing, he offers the same old Democrat stateism and big spending, while claiming to want to solve budget problems. For another, he is still a race candidate, no matter how much he tries to claim otherwise. And a classic example of this is his recent speech which inspired a lot of fawning adulation from the usual suspects (this one made me laugh. Obsequious?Just a tad). Others have not been so kind. Charles Krauthammer, for example, asks a very simple question.

If Wright is a man of the past, why would you expose your children to his vitriolic divisiveness? This is a man who curses America and who proclaimed moral satisfaction in the deaths of 3,000 innocents at a time when their bodies were still being sought at Ground Zero. It is not just the older congregants who stand and cheer and roar in wild approval of Wright’s rants, but young people as well. Why did you give $22,500 just two years ago to a church run by a man of the past who infects the younger generation with precisely the racial attitudes and animus you say you have come unto us to transcend?

Not only that, Obama was a member of this church for 20 years,

Shelby Steele explained Obama as a “bargainer”, His bit is to make whites think voting for him is a way to purge themselves of guilt for stuff they didn’t do but have been made to feel ashamed of their whole lives. Thomas Sowell breaks his speech down even further. I’d say its obvious that the people who love Obama probably thought the speech was brilliant. The rest of us either shrugged or dismissed it entirely.

I think Obama is a vast improvement over black politicians we’ve had in the past. He’s no Jesse or Sharpton. He does come off very presidential. But the fact is, He is running for president without even finishing his first term in office.  His foreign policy is incredibly naive. And despite his protestations to the contrary, he is still coming from an angry mob position if he hangs out with this church.

Sure, he probably went there so he would have street cred in his city. He’s too “white seeming” for some. There was a lot of questions about his “blackness” in the early days of his campaign.

The problem is, in order to transcend race, you have to put it behind you. He hasn’t done that. He shows no willingness to do that. And I think that will be his downfall.

After Hillary is done trying to hurt him, and she crashes and burns, McCain will have a fairly easy job winning the White House. It’s still to early to call the General Election, but the Dems ar destroying themselves better than anything Karl Rove could have dreamed up.

UPDATE Obama’s racist rant. It’s like saying typical black men are bred to be better athletes.  If he was white and made that coment about blacks he’d be crucified by the media.

John Kerry unwittingly reveals the weakness of Obama, while praising him, and showing once again that he is a dolt.

Uh Oh

It seems pro-Clinton bloggers (what, all three of them?) are boycotting Daily Kos because it’s become such a hostile place to the Senator for NY. Indeed, this may have ramifications for the general election.

Many feel that one of the other major liberal blogs, MyDD, tends to attract bloggers more favorable to Mrs. Clinton. If the rift lingers after the primaries, the organizational value of the blogs could be compromised.

Joe Gandelman at The Moderate Voice blog writes: “Where progressive and moderate bloggers and commenters used to get worked up arguing about George Bush, there now a real angry, scolding tone in many comments left by Clinton and Obama supporters.”

He continues: “In short, the strike/boycott is a symptom — and with so many months to go until the Democratic convention, the prognosis for true Democratic Party unity going into the election seems ‘questionable.’”

Oops. And Democrats were so sure things were on their side. But they forgot one thing,

They’re not on their own side.

Leaving Hillary

Reading left wing blogs has been a lot of fun lately. Mainly to read all these Dems realize that Republicans have been right about the Clintons all along. They just couldn’t see it. Now we have two Hillary supporters who have publicly switched sides to Obama. They’re both worth a read. This one really leaps out at you.

I voluntarily left the Hillary Finance Committee after I discovered more than $3, 000 in unauthorized charges from HRC campaign on my own VISA card! And that set off a wave of overdrafts and $400 in bank charges that I was stuck with. And thE compliance officer Allison Wright at Hillary VA headquarters refused to reimburse me for the charges. And the senior finance reps who I notified about more than $3, 000 in Unauthorized Visa Charges: never once apologized or empathized with my plight...Much less send me a “sorry for all the trouble” note and a check!

Unbelievably, it took me more than a month of pleading and begging VIA email to get the money back. I was told verbatim:

“Kathy Callahan, you are going to be with us all the way to the White House...So let’s leave the money where it is and we’ll save time on inevitable future donations and transactions!”

Is that crooked or what? Taking money from your unpaid staff without their consent and trying to pass it off as a donation.

And this one by a Clinton supporter who now agrees that she’s a monster.

There are lots more blog entries like this all over the left wing web. Daily Kos sounds like the Rush Limbaugh show for all the Hillary bashing you see there now. It’s pretty funny. But I’m glad some people are coming to their senses on the Clintons. It’s a start,.

Clinton Suicide Watch

Hillary Clinton is about to meet her Alamo in Texas on Tuesday. She’s pulling out the stops to try to win, including doing something that is bound to get Obama elected instead of her. She’s threatening to sue the Texas Democrat party.

The Texas Democratic Party is warning that its March 4 caucuses could be delayed or disrupted after aides to White House hopeful Hillary Clinton raised the specter of an “imminent” lawsuit over its complicated delegate selection process, officials said Thursday night.

In a letter sent out late Thursday to both the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama campaigns, Texas Democratic Party lawyer Chad Dunn warned that a lawsuit could ruin the Democrats’ effort to re-energize voters just as they are turning out in record numbers.

Spokesmen from both campaigns maintained there were no plans to sue before the March 4 election.

“It has been brought to my attention that one or both of your campaigns may already be planning or intending to pursue litigation against the Texas Democratic Party,” Dunn said in the letter, obtained by the Star-Telegram. “Such action could prove to be a tragedy for a reinvigorated Democratic process.”

She’s already threatened to try to force the party to give her the delegates from Michigan and Florida, even though the party disqualified those states. If she were to get them by some chance, or try to get the super delegates despite Obama winning the popular vote, it will tear the Democrats apart. It’ll destroy what’s left of the Clinton’s reputation with the few people who don’t already hold them in contempt.

But apparently, Hillary doesn’t care. She wants power at all costs. Dick Morris, who worked with the Clintons for 20 years, says we’re seeing her true face in these moments.

How much do you want to bet he won’t give up after Tuesday despite losing either Texas or Ohio? It’s very possible she’ll lose both. But she needs to win both by large percentages and the polls show that’s not likely to happen.

There have been increasing calls for her to concede. More will come next week if she fails to do so.

Watching the Clintons fail is the ultimate schadenfreude, but you have to wonder what new tricks they will think up before their goal to regain the White House is finally lost.

UPDATE: Apparently, she has a campaign strategy if she does lose those states. She probably will sue Obama if she keps losing. She’s a worse loser than Al Gore.

Clinton is Over

I’m not a Frank Rich fan, but the partisan Democrat NY Times writer really lays it out why Hillary has lost the race. And it’s stunning just how bad a job she’s done. It’s a major indictment of her so called skills, that she has mishandled her campaign so badly. It really tells us what a failure she would have been if she had been elected.

It’s also telling how a former Clinton supporter, like Rich, could beat up on her like this. But he’s only being honest here. She really is that bad.

It also shows how so many Dems have turned their backs on the Clintons. Many of them finally see what an embarrassment they have been with all their myriad scandals and obnoxious behavior. They want a clean break. Obama seems to provide them with one.

It’s almost funny to see the Dems finally admit what others have been saying about the Clintons for years. It’s the closest you’ll ever see to Democrats admitting they were wrong. No matter how wrong Democrats are, they never do that. So this is one of those rare opportunities.

If Obama gets elected, watch a lot of Dems switch parties, as Obama is likely to be worse than Jimmy Carter.

UPDATE: Andrew Sullivan also chimes in. And he hits it squarely on the head.

Clinton is a terrible manager of people. Coming into a campaign she had been planning for, what, two decades, she was so not ready on Day One, or even Day 300. Her White House, if we can glean anything from the campaign, would be a secretive nest of well-fed yes-people, an uncontrollable egomaniac spouse able and willing to bigfoot anyone if he wants to, a phalanx of flunkies who cannot tell the boss when things are wrong, and a drizzle of dreary hacks like Mark Penn. Her only genuine skill is pivoting off the Limbaugh machine (which is now as played out as its enemies). Her new weapon is apparently bursting into tears. I mean: really.

Obama Drops a House on Hillary

The wicked witch of the East has been defeated again. And she may be trounced in Hawaii before the night is over here on the mainland. That would make 10 wins in a row for Obama. Hillary is going to look mighty weak after tonight. Which means the Clintons will be backed into a corner and the real ugliness will come out.

It will be fascinating to see if they are stupid enough to try to force the super-delegates to throw the race to them. If they do the Dems will lose the race in November because there will be so much animosity toward the Clintons. As it is, I think they’ve lost their chances with black Americans. A very loyal group that’s dropped the Clintons, probably for good.

Obama looks like the sure winner of the nomination if the Clintons don’t try to pull something. They are beginning to look as likely to win as Mike Huckabee. And I think by the time the real race starts Obama’s bubble will pop and McCain will eat him alive. That’s why you’re seeing Democrats on the internet try to demonize McCain and attempt to dismiss the experience argument with things like this.

But McCain, despite his many faults, does have a lot of real experience. Especially in areas hat really matter in these times. The debates between McCain and Obama are going to be very interesting indeed.

Boo Hoo

Obama Beats Hillary handily this weekend. Hillary reminds us why she’d make an awful president. If an election keeps making her weep, try a major terrorist attack or angry people on the internet.
