Clinton Approves of TortureThe self righteous left who want to paint the US as worse than Saddam have another punching bag to pick on besides Bush now. Bill Clinton says torture is OK, y’all. As long as its off the book.
What the nation needs is some good Jack Bauer agents, says Bill Clinton.
Bill and Hillary Clinton apparently no longer think torture has a place in U.S. policy, but Bubba sure hopes a “24"-style cowboy steps up if someone ever nabs a terrorist who knows a bomb is about to blow.
“If you’re the Jack Bauer person, you’ll do whatever you do and you should be prepared to take the consequences,” Bill Clinton said yesterday.
In Fox’s hit show “24,” actor Kiefer Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer is regularly confronted with the ticking-time bomb scenario - and makes his own rules about how to save the country.
Pointing to the show, Clinton argued on NBC’s “Meet the Press” it was better that way because any law that approved torture could be abused.
“If you have any kind of a formal exception, people just drive a truck through it, and they’ll say, ‘Well, I thought it was covered by the exception,’” Clinton said.
“When Bauer goes out there on his own and is prepared to live with the consequences, it always seems to work better,” he said.
So, a law enforcement type that breaks the rules and tortures suspects is effective, but having carefully considered, approved techniques is not?
I just have to see if there is any cry of outrage over this from the usual suspects. Or will we hear crickets chirping as usual. Whenever Clinton does something outrageous, like get accused of rape, the Dems circle the wagons. If a Republican even utters a stupid statement, they forced out of their job.
Of course, Clinton is out of office, but his wife wants to be President. Let’s see if there is any backlash.

The Swimmer is SinkingOnce upon a time, Ted Kennedy could count on his daily dose of veneration. The right wing hated the Massachusetts Democrat, but progressives honored him as a defender of old-school liberalism.
In a remarkable turnaround, liberals are now heaping scorn on the 73-year-old senator. Young audiences boo at his name, and the leftish “Daily Show” on Comedy Central makes fun of him.
The source of unhappiness is Kennedy’s efforts to kill an offshore wind farm on Nantucket Sound. Cape Wind was to be the first such project in the United States and a source of pride to environmentally-minded New Englanders. Polls show 84 percent of Massachusetts residents in favor. But now it appears that America’s first offshore wind farm will be near Galveston, Texas.
Proposed a month before Sept. 11, 2001, Cape Wind remains in limbo. It’s been frustrated at every turn by a handful of yachtsmen, Kennedy included, who don’t want to see windmills from their verandas. Many millions have been spent spreading disinformation and smearing the wind farm’s supporters.
The towers would be at least five miles out and barely visible from shore on the clearest day, but the summer plutocrats resent any intrusion on their waterfront vistas — and, equally, any challenge to the notion that they control everything.
“But don’t you realize — that’s where I sail!” may stand as Kennedy’s most self-incriminating quote.

How Republican of HerThey love to bash Republicans for this behavior, but leave it to a Clinton to withhold records.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton cites her experience as a compelling reason voters should make her president, but nearly 2 million pages of documents covering her White House years are locked up in a building here, obscuring a large swath of her record as first lady.
Clinton’s calendars, appointment logs and memos are stored at her husband’s presidential library, in the custody of federal archivists who do not expect them to be released until after the 2008 presidential election.
A trove of records has been made public detailing the Clinton White House’s attempts to remake the nation’s healthcare system, following a request from Bill Clinton that those materials be released first. Hillary Clinton led the health care effort in 1993 and 1994.
This stuff should be public record. No other first lady has done this. Yes, she is like no other first lady. She’s running for president. But all the more reason for us to want to know what she did working for her husband’s administration. It could shed a lot of salient light on things.
The fact that she wants it locked up speaks volumes.

Hillary and Stan Lee
Stan Lee has a conversation with Hillary Clinton over a fundraiser created by Stan Lee Media exec Peter Paul. Which Hillary said never happened. Why? Because election rad issues Paul raises once he turned on her.
Man, Stan Lee is such a suck ass.

Al Gore Bashing Bush on Iraq (1992)
Gee, Bush sr wasn’t tough enough on Saddam, but Bush Jr was too tough? He did what Al was suggesting in this video. And, as vice-president, did he think Clinton was too soft on Saddam? After all, Clinton was easier on Saddam than Bush 41.

Hillary’s Message to AmericaHillary picks Impeached Judge Alcee Hastings as her campaign co-chair. I guess she has a thing for impeached men.
Hastings got appointed to the federal bench by Jimmy Carter in 1979. In less than two years, he got indicted for soliciting a bribe in an FBI sting. In 1983, he won an acquittal, but a subsequent House investigation found that he had committed perjury in that trial. The House Judiciary Committee authorized a whopping seventeen counts for impeachment against Hastings in 1988.
The man chairing Judiciary at the time? None other than John Conyers, Jr, a longtime member of Democratic leadership. In fact, the House voted to impeach Hastings in a massively bipartisan vote of 413-3, and the Senate convicted him on 8 of 11 counts they considered. He became only the sixth federal judge ever removed by impeachment. Hastings attempted to play the race card, but Conyers strongly rejected that, and a majority of the Congressional Black Caucus voted for his impeachment.
That sets a tone for how ethical her administration would be. Too bad John Gotti and Jim Bakker are dead. They could be on her staff.

A Likeable DemocratSenator Gravel amuses me. I don’t agree with him on everything, but I like his frankness and honesty. While the other people in the debate were just uttering the usual platitudes and cliches, Gravel smacked the others around. Of course, he is being marginalized because he is not a system player. But we need more politicians like this, who are honest about the problems we have to deal with.
Like I said, I am not in agreement with everything he believes, but at least his arguments aren’t fake. And they are mostly solid arguments.
