Your Mother was a LiarMany of the things your mother told you are debunked here. Some of these I remember, but they were also told my male relatives.
Mother’s Day is coming up, BTW.

RIP: Charlton HestonHe was the star of many sci-fi films of my youth, from Planet of the Apes, the Omega Man to Soylent Green. And who can forget the 10 Commandments and Ben Hur. He was reviled by lefties for being a conservative and a gun rights advocate (and former head of the NRA). Michael Moore tried to make home look bad in his bogus Bowling for Columbine crockmentary, but it was later revealed that most of that film was either taken out of context or fabricated nonsense, including the scenes of Heston giving NRA that Moore claimed was in Columbine right after the tragedy there. It wasn’t.
Some people like to mock his acting, but I liked him. I especially love Planet of the Apes. It was so revolutionary when it came out. I still think its a great film,

Predictions 2008Hillary Clinton will win the Democrat nomination, but lose the presidency.
Ron Paul will lose the Republican nomination but run as a third party candidate.
Paul ends up drawing more Democrats away than Republicans, helping insure Hillary’s defeat.
But a Republican wins in November. I am leaning toward Thompson defying expectations of the pundit class, and winning the nomination. However, if he doesn’t, Romney will.
The Republican nomination will be a roller coaster not a cake walk.
The housing slump lasts into the fall.
The Iraq surge will inspire an Afghan surge.
Pakistan turmoil will result in martial law and perhaps the fall of the current government.
Global Warming skepticism grows after a cold winter.
Global Warming laws will continue to be passed, fueling a backlash.
The Hollywood writer’s strike will last till late February/early March.
Iraq will continue to cool down.
Many Democrats frustrated by their party’s performance since the last election will form a new party.
Despite the attempts by some, Cheney and Bush will not be impeached.

Happy New Year
2008 is upon us. Traditionally, I do my new years predictions on this blog every year. Most years I had a really good track record for predictions. Alas, my database was wiped by my last host. The saves I did turned out to be useless because of some glitch with their software and they didn’t back things up properly on their end. Which is why I moved my site. So last year’s predictions aren’t available. I don’t remember any of them except two of them.
Giuliani will be the leading Republican in the polls. I was sort of right. He is within the margin of error.
Hillary would be the lead for the Democrats. That’s pretty much the case, though that could change in the next few weeks.
I vaguely recall my other predictions. I wish I could find them. It really upsets me that 4 years of blogging got lost. Anyway…
Tomorrow I will give my predictions for 2008. Have a great New Year’s eve and drive safe.
