10 Sources of Movies and TV OnlineSome really useful sites if you watch to catch up on shows. TV Links has lots of British stuff including almost every Doctor Who episode available. There’s also a lot of movies including ones not released on DVD yet.

Cheaper Than a TivoNever miss a show if you have broadband. I checked this out and it works great. Awesome. I don’t have my Directv set up yet, and probably won’t for a couple of months while I look for a more permanent house. So this will keep up up to date on the new show. Nice.

Doctor Who and TorchwoodI started to download all of this season’s Doctor Who episodes from Bit torrent and just finished the season. They have all the BBC broadcasts up there. The last half of this season was amazing, starting with Human Nature. That aired on the Sci Fi channel Friday. They bring back a major Who villain for the final three episodes. I won’t say who, but they got Derek (I Claudius, Underworld: Evolution) Jacobi in one of the episodes, which was a coup. I’ve gotta say, this new Who series has been excellent. It’s uneven sometimes, like the two part Daleks in Manhattan this season. But when they have their best writers on an episode, it can be amazing. Check out Blink in a couple of weeks on Sci Fi. Really great stuff.
So now I’ve been downloading Torchwood episodes. That’s the spin off show that has Captain Jack Harkness, the bisexual immortal con man from the future who runs a Welsh version of the X-Files. It seems pretty good so far. They apparently do more cross overs with Who next season when Martha Jones is in 5 episodes.
Here’s the first part of the Sarah Jane Adventures show starring Elizabeth Sladen. This is a spin off of Doctor Who as well. Sarah Jane has been consistently voted the most popular of the Doctor’s companions. I have to say, she has held up remarkably well considering she was on Doctor Who in the mid 1970s.

Goodbye 24Last season they jumped about 30 sharks. This coming season, sounds like the end of what was once a great show.
From “An Inconvenient Truth” to popularizing the Prius, Hollywood has helped lead the way on some environmental issues. One of the latest initiatives: Cool Change, Fox’s company-wide program to reduce the network’s impact on global warming. As part of that effort, the seventh season of “24” will take steps to reduce and offset the carbon emissions from the show’s production, with the goal of having the season finale be entirely carbon-neutral.
...
The “24” page at Fox.com now features energy conservation tips and a public service announcement about global warming featuring Kiefer Sutherland; more information will be posted when the show airs in January. Plus, climate change will be incorporated into the series’ plot (which just might scare some viewers into taking action).
I guess I’ll be watching Heroes next season instead.

Crybaby of the Day
It’s one thing to cry over lost work (never done it myself). It’s another thing to have a meltdown over lost work that would ruin your career if you did it, or make you out to look like a bigger joke than you are already. Paula Abdul was crazy to take on this Hey, Paula show. It’s a 30 minute train wreck every week.
And she seemed to have cleaned up her act on last season’s American Idol. Oh, well.

Marketing Gimmick of the WeekMedellin is a fake movie from the HBO show Entourage. The trailer looks cool, and they even made a fake site to promote it.

Conchords RockHBO’s new Series Flight of the Conchords is pretty funny. It’s sort of a modern Spinal Tap about two losers from New Zealand trying to make it as a rock group in New York. They have fantasies that become the rock videos in the episode. Here’s one from the pilot.
More videos here. Inner City Pressure is another favorite of mine. It’s a parody of the Pet Shop Boys “West End Girls”.

The Dharma Initiative
This is a real video from the makers of Lost that gives some background on the Dharma Initiative. I was getting annoyed with the show in the second season, then it got interesting. I started to get annoyed again in the third season, but they really got me hooked when they started answering a lot of questions and throwing one surprise after another at you. Now I am really looking forward to the next season. Too bad we have to wait till January.

A Real Good ExplanationThis TV writer explains, with screen shots, what the last episode of the Sopranos was telling us. It’s very interesting and it makes sense.
