These People Are Crazy

The Global Warming loons continue to pull out their hair and howl at the moon. And in doing so, they are dragging politicians into the mix, which will be bad news for all of us.

Global warming is accelerating three times more quickly than feared, a series of startling, authoritative studies has revealed.

They have found that emissions of carbon dioxide have been rising at thrice the rate in the 1990s. The Arctic ice cap is melting three times as fast - and the seas are rising twice as rapidly - as had been predicted.

News of the studies - which are bound to lead to calls for even tougher anti-pollution measures than have yet been contemplated - comes as the leaders of the world’s most powerful nations prepare for the most crucial meeting yet on tackling climate change.

The issue will be top of the agenda of the G8 summit which opens in the German Baltic resort of Heiligendamm on Wednesday, placing unprecedented pressure on President George Bush finally to agree to international measures.

These measures will mean more laws limiting our choices and freedoms. Watch.

And its all for nothing.

Global Warming Confessions

I devoted six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian government to estimate carbon emissions from land use change and forestry. When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty conclusive, but since then new evidence has weakened that case. I am now skeptical.

Read the whole thing. It’s what I’ve been saying all along.

Meanwhile, president (in her so-called mind) Nancy Pelosi claims she saw Climate Change with her own eyes when she visited Greenland recently. I don’t know how stupid this woman is, but seeing some localized thing which could be caused by a lot of factors other than climate change, is not proof of anything except her delusional mind. But the worst of it is, she is using this as an excuse to raise Germen climate control emission standards which are punitive towards industry and the public, despite there being no credible evidence CO² causes climate change, or that global warming is even a bad thing.

These increasingly shrill calls for us to cut back our energy use will result in more laws costing the public more money while taking away more of our freedoms. This is not remotely funny. Those of us who have watched anti-smoking fanatics make smoking virtually illegal to do anywhere, know where this can lead. If you’ve lived in drought areas you’ve heard of watering days for your lawn. Imagine power days, where you can use power in your house. You think that won’t happen? In some countries, the power is shut off for a day in some areas. They can do that here. This is where stupidity and fanaticism can lead us.

They are Insane

The GW Promoting bureaucrats of the EU have made another stupid declaration.

BARMY Euro MPs are demanding new laws to stop cows and sheep PARPING (farting).

Their call came after the UN said livestock emissions were a bigger threat to the planet than transport.

The MEPs have asked the European Commission to “look again at the livestock question in direct connection with global warming”.

The official EU declaration demands changes to animals’ diets, to capture gas emissions and recycle manure.

They warned: “The livestock sector presents the greatest threat to the planet.” The proposal will be looked at by the 27 member states.

If, as they say, that animals produce more greenhouse gasses than cars, that should tell you how benign these gasses are. After all, they are a product of nature and if the planet was going to be affected by such things it would have been a long time ago.

But the truth is, this kind of stupidity is no where near the worst of what they will come out with. Soon they’ll be telling humans what they can eat. This is why we really need to stop this blobal warming madness before it really gets out of hand.

Green into Gold

If you want more proof that GW is all about the Benjamins, check this out.

Companies and individuals rushing to go green have been spending millions on “carbon credit” projects that yield few if any environmental benefits.

A Financial Times investigation has uncovered widespread failings in the new markets for greenhouse gases, suggesting some organisations are paying for emissions reductions that do not take place.

Others are meanwhile making big profits from carbon trading for very small expenditure and in some cases for clean-ups that they would have made anyway.

The growing political salience of environmental politics has sparked a “green gold rush”, which has seen a dramatic expansion in the number of businesses offering both companies and individuals the chance to go “carbon neutral”, offsetting their own energy use by buying carbon credits that cancel out their contribution to global warming.

Meanwhile, they are desperately trying to discredit the excellent “Great Global Warming Swindle” film that aired on British TV. They are trying to neuter it before it goes to DVD. It was a devastating piece on GW and they got to be running scared.

Bob Ward, the former spokesman for the Royal Society, Britain’s academy of science, and one of the letter’s signatories, said director Mark Durkin made a “long catalog of fundamental and profound mistakes”—including the claim that volcanoes produce more carbon dioxide than humans, and that the Earth’s atmosphere was warmer during the Middle Ages than it is today.

“Free speech does not extend to misleading the public by making factually inaccurate statements,” he said. “Somebody has to stand up for the public interest here.”

Here’s the problem with those two arguments. No one really knows how much CO² is exhaled by volcanoes. They can only speculate. But since most of what Volcanoes exhale is water vapor, and water vapor is the largest component of “greenhouse gasses”, that would make the film accurate on that score. The Medieval Warming Period absolutely was warmer than today’s temperatures. Again, the hacks are lying.

They don’t bother to address the more damning indictments the film makes about GW. Like the fact that solar cycles seem to increase the planet’s CO² when it warms it during sunspot seasons.  Or the fact that a lot of the signatories in the IPCC documents are not in agreement with it. Many of them are in fact skeptics, but they are included to make it look like the numbers of believers is overwhelming.

From the above article you can see that GW is a big money business now. All you have to do is channel surf to catch one commercial after another talking about “green”. But seeing how fake the whole thing is, it’s not surprising they would consider anything factual a threat.

Imbecile DuJour

I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming. Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating. One of my favorites is in the area of forest conservation which we heavily rely on for oxygen. I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don’t want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.

Sheryl Crow

This global warming madness really needs to be stopped before people like this are taken seriously. This is what happens when cranks are taken seriously. People die.

Dolt Dujour

The weather forecast for Saturday’s global warming rallies in Grand Rapids and Holland calls for snow and cold rain and temperatures in the 40s—about 10 degrees below normal.

For some, this might make global warming a tough sell.

“I’ve thought of that,” said Lisa Locke, associate director of the West Michigan Environmental Action Council, which is organizing the three Grand Rapids “Step it Up” rallies.

“I think that’s an easy excuse, but if we’re really reasonable about it, we’re not talking about individual weather on individual days,” Locke said. “We’re talking about something much larger, on a global scale, which science has been tracking for decades.”

If they bothered to look at the objective data, they’d see global mean temperature goes in cycles. But, hey, they have an anti-capitalist agenda to fill.

Newt Wimps Out

His political advisors probably warned him it would hurt his candidancy if he debated Kerry on Global Warming. I think it would have helped. But now we know what he is made of.

In a Capitol Hill debate about global warming touted by its moderator as a “smackdown” between former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, Gingrich praised Kerry’s recently released book about environmentalism, acknowledged that global warming is real, and offered what amounted to an unexpected apology for his party’s inaction on curtailing greenhouse gas emissions.

“I’m not going to stand up here and defend our failure to lead,” said Gingrich, who is considering a run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and plans to release a book in the fall burnishing his environmental credentials. “There has to be a green conservatism.”

The standing-room-only debate, staged yesterday in an ornate Senate hearing room, offered an indication that even diehard conservatives like Gingrich, who stepped down as speaker in 1998, are abandoning their skepticism on global warming. As recently as two years ago, Gingrich ridiculed the notion that humans are causing the earth to warm, but yesterday he said the evidence was “sufficient.”

Pretty pathetic. Especially when the weather is doing a good job of showing global warming to be a joke.

Quote of the Day

A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore “a gross alarmist” Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.

“He’s one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he’s doing a great disservice and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech.

...

Over the past 24 years, Gray, 77, has become known as America’s most reliable hurricane forecaster; recently, his mentee, Philip Klotzbach, has begun doing the bulk of the forecasting work.

AP

The IPCC released another “report” today with the usual gloom and doom predictions. They deliberately release these over the year to keep the press engaged, but it’s nothig more than the same claptrap as before.

I think Gore has probably done skeptics a huge favor by releasing his film, because skeptic scientists are starting to come out of the woodwork now.

The Fear Factor

Near-record cold in Alaska. Yet the NY Times and others recently claimed Alaska is “melting”.

It’s part of the hysteria business which is designed to get people to throw money at problems. Also known as manufacturing consent. Scare people enough and they will agree to do whatever you want.

This is one of the more appalling things aboutr the US media, which is worse at this than any other country. Our media thrives at using scare and fear tactics to get people to agree with bogus agendas the elites who own these media companies want people to go along with.

It’s what journalist John Stossel calls the “Fear Industrial Complex”.

Newsrooms are full of English majors who acknowledge that they are not good at math, but still rush to make confident pronouncements about a global-warming “crisis” and the coming of bird flu.

Bird flu was called the No. 1 threat to the world. But bird flu has killed no one in America, while regular flu—the boring kind—kills tens of thousands. New York City internist Marc Siegel says that after the media hype, his patients didn’t want to hear that.
“I say, ‘You need a flu shot.’ You know the regular flu is killing 36,000 per year. They say, ‘Don’t talk to me about regular flu. What about bird flu?’”

Here’s another example. What do you think is more dangerous, a house with a pool or a house with a gun? When, for “20/20,” I asked some kids, all said the house with the gun is more dangerous. I’m sure their parents would agree. Yet a child is 100 times more likely to die in a swimming pool than in a gun accident.

Parents don’t know that partly because the media hate guns and gun accidents make bigger headlines. Ask yourself which incident would be more likely to be covered on TV.

You have to commend Stossel for being one of those rare journalists who actually questions the hype. That’s a journalist’s job, but most of them aren’t doing theirs. The rarely question anything the Democrats say, and cast everything Republicans say as lies, without checking the veracity of either argument.

But their determination to ram fear issues down our throats is beyond appalling. It’s enabling politicians to pass laws limiting our freedoms and it’s even getting people killed. When the media hyped DDT in the 60s, it got banned and millions died from malaria in places like Africa. Now we know many of the claims about DDT were utterly false. In the 70s they created a climate of fear over Nuclear Power, which left us building coal and oil burning plants instead, and now everyone is saying we should go back to nuclear power because it’s clean and doesn’t require fossil fuels. yet, if they hadn’t blocked it in the first place we would have an energy surplus, trillions of barrels of oil and millions of tons of coal would never have been needed. The pollution that would have never been created is in the millions of tons of toxic particulates and greenhouse gasses. The media and the so called Greens are responsible for that. They were the ones who blocked nuclear power (along with the usual suspects in the Democrats).

Once again we’re faced with the same kind of hype with Global Warming which is threating to have our economies and liberties curtailed all in the name of unproven pseudo-scientific arguments. They want us to cut back on our energy use dramatically, even get rid of our cars, light bulbs, etc,. And they haven’t proven anything. Of all the absurd arguments made by these people, this is one of the most obnoxiously stupid. Yet so many are convinced, mainly because of group think. Not because of the science. if they bothered to objectively study the science, they would see how flawed it is.

It’s important that those of us who think freely and aren’t tricked by the media’s hype, to pass along the truth to others. If the media won’t do their job, we have to do it for them.
