Great CD!

image

In the late 1970s, Boz Scaggs, a former member of the Steve Miller Band (which I also like) released this solo album which remains one of my favorite CDs from that era. It was called Silk Degrees and it’s just been re-released this week with some live bonus tracks. For some bizarre reason critics called it a disco album, even though it was no such thing. But then, critics then as now were clueless.

They had a real hate on for disco. It, like hip-hop, had over taken rock at the time and some people thought it was a threat. You saw a lot of artists from the Rolling Stones to Paul McCartney cut disco tracks. Hard to believe it was so big, but for awhile it was. Personally, I enjoy disco. But this is not a disco album. I was about 19 when it came out and listened to it a lot. I still have the vinyl version and I plan to get the CD.

It’s a classic and very enjoyable. Scaggs is kind of a blue-eyed soul singer, but he has his own style which makes him unique. There were a ton of hits that came off this one CD. Lido Shuffle, Lowdown, Georgia, and more.

Double Standard DuJour

Iran is breaking the Geneva convention and not a peep from the leftists so concerned about the rights of alleged terrorists. Gosh, what a surprise.

Instead you have people here burning effigies of American soldiers calling for the deaths of our troops.

And then they get outraged when you call them traitors.

Star Wars Gangsta Rap

It’s raunchy and crude. But an amazing piece of editing.

“New” Tolkien Book

The first new Tolkien novel for 30 years is to be published next month. In a move eagerly anticipated by millions of fans across the world, The Children of Húrin will be released worldwide on 17 April, 89 years after the author started the work and four years after the final cinematic instalment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, one of biggest box office successes in history.

The book, whose contents are being jealously guarded by publisher HarperCollins - is described as “an epic story of adventure, tragedy, fellowship and heroism.”

It is likely to be a publishing sensation, particularly as it is illustrated by veteran Middle Earth artist Alan Lee, who won an Oscar for art direction on Peter Jackson’s third film The Return of The King. Lee provided 25 pencil sketches and eight paintings for the first edition of the book, one of which is reproduced here for the first time in a national newspaper.

The Independant

Well, Christopher Tolkien isn’t much of a writer. But his father’s notes were insanely extensive and I have read many of them and there are a lot of great stories there. So we will see how good it is. It’s about a tribe of humans in the first age and the trials they had to go through. Basically, it’s about some of the first humans in Middle Earth, many hundreds of years before the events in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.

Creeping Fascism in Europe

Here’s a disturbing British documentary about the European Union and what it’s really about. Notice, a lot of global warming calls for more power and money for bureaucrats come from the EU. This will help you understand what’s really going on.

Climate Change

Glen Beck discusses climate change with two scientists. Some useful info in case you missed this.

And if you missed it earlier, the British documentary that completely kicks the GW cultists ass.

Politicians like Gore are not only irresponsible. They are monstrously evil with their extremist fear mongering and lies. They know they are lying because none of the studies they cite back up the claims they make. Even the IPCC. They are trying to get more power and money. Just as leftists claim Bush is using fear to take away our freedoms, leftists are using fear to take away our freedoms.

Enough!

The Reality of Reality: James Randi

Human Beings want to believe in some thing. They need to believe in something. They feel a lack of security of there isn’t some kind of faith in their lives. The secularists often turn to leftist ideas, which can become as irrational as cult beliefs. And we all know about how deranged some religions can get and the dark places it can take its followers. The Heaven’s Gate cult and Jim Jones are two examples out of many.

People will willingly give up their money or even their lives, all because a charlatan managed to convince them to believe in a big lie. And once that happens, people are easily led astray. And even worse, become resistant to others who try make them see the truth. Many people become stubborn and willfully ignorant once they cross the line into delusion. Their pride and ego don’t want them to let go of the lie, which comforts them in some strange way.

Unscrupulous people have known this for ages and have gotten rich and powerful manipulating and lying to others. Therefore, when someone who knows these tricks can somehow debunk the fakes, hey are a true hero. One such person is James Randi. Here are some excerpts from a show about his work debunking frauds.

Randi is a magician who started going on TV shows in the 70s to reveal the tricks so called psychics were using. Back then there were a lot of people coming on shows claiming they had some kind of powers and these TV shows would act like they believed them. This is very bad for a number of reasons. But it shows how easily people are tricked. This is why I am constantly bashing things like man-made global warming on here. To me, it’s another example of magical thinking. But we can get into that later.

For now, herrrrre’s Randi.
