Stupidity of the Day

HUMANS are just one of the millions of species on Earth, but we use up almost a quarter of the sun’s energy captured by plants - the most of any species.

The human dominance of this natural resource is affecting other species, reducing the amount of energy available to them by almost 10 per cent, scientists report.

Researchers said the findings showed humans were using “a remarkable share” of the earth’s plant productivity “to meet the needs and wants of one species”.

They also warned that the increased use of biofuels - such as ethanol and canola - should be viewed cautiously, given the potential for further pressure on ecosystems.

I swear, some of these clowns are so predictable in their cliches. And the media just eats this stuff up, despite the fact that it makes them look even stupider than these so called scientists.

Now these people want some kind of solar parity with the animal kingdom? What will they think of next? When will people have enough of this noise?

Shots of the Day

This might make a good desktop. Or not.

Here’s some funny pictures taken around.

Top 18 Skylines in the world. I was supposed to go to Hong Kong in two weeks, but my trip was delayed. Still, I am really looking forward to going. It’s always been a place I wanted to see. I hope to see some of these other places as well.

This Also Bugs Me

I’m sure by now you’ve got a sense of what some of my pet peeves are if you’ve been reading this blog. Here’s another one that really gets on my nerves. In fact, anyone who knows me will hear me complain about it. All the good land is being bought up so no one else can afford any nearby. It’s like monopoly.

Here’s a classic example. If ever there was a reason to hate Arabs, here’s another.

Linkin Park Parody

I love Linkin Park, but I have to admit, this parody is pretty on target.

No One Likes a Scold

Al Gore is set to host a huge concert called Live Earth, which some are calling the biggest show ever. With it, he thinks a host of self righteous, uneducated celebrities are going to convince the rest of us to believe in hornswaggle.

Critics have argued the 24-hour spectacular - featuring more than 150 acts including Madonna, Lily Allen, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas and Jack Johnson - will do more for the stars’ careers than raising awareness of climate change.

But Gore will use it to urge people to sign a seven-point pledge calling on governments to agree, within two years, an international treaty that cuts global warming pollution by 90 per cent in developed countries and by more than half worldwide. It also asks people to cut their own pollution, make their homes, businesses, schools and transport more energy efficient, and plant new trees and preserve forests.

With its rapid economic growth and soaring carbon emissions, China is regarded as a crucial target for this message. Kevin Wall, the executive producer of Live Earth, has succeeded where he did not two years ago as a co-organiser of Live8, the centrepiece of the Make Poverty History campaign.

‘We’re on Chinese TV with 800 million people, ‘ he told The Observer. ‘People often think on a parochial basis, so it’s vital to be there. We’ve got to talk and make the whole world listen.’

Not only are his goals unrealistic, they are detrimental to humanity. A lot more detrimental than even his own climate change predictions, which are laughable.

In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, “We must stop tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of intentionally clouding the public’s ability to discern the truth.” Gore repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing as the central focus of public discourse.

And that’s precisely what Al Gore does. Everything he suggests we “stop doing”. Like a typical elite, he wants us to stop doing what he does with the abandon of a Bacchanalian.

This guy is scary stupid. The inverse of scary smart. What makes him scary is, in spite of his stupidity, he manages to make believers out of a host of dim witted ideologues who don’t bother to actually check the facts of what he’s saying. Of course, the media shares some responsibility for his success. Even though it’s their job to check facts, they don’t even bother. Such as CNN’s appalling article where they back up Sicko. While hiding behind weasel words to mask their actually uncertainty.

What he calsl for is the collapse of civilization, the destruction of economies which will result in wars, chaos and famine. Untold misery.

Rather than suggest we adapt to climate change, he has the arrogant notion that we can magically change the weather by shutting down our factories and stop using cars. All this based on no solid scientific evidence.

And how does he propose to change people’s minds, to get them to come along with this mad scheme? Why, throw a rock concert and give a lot of lectures!

See what I mean about scary stupid?
