“There Are No Gays in Iran”According to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who said: “In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like you do in your country. We do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who’s told you that we have it.” But there might be a good reason why he would think so.
The Iranian leader was also asked about reports men who are gay or perceived to be gay have been executed.
He refused to confirm or deny that executions of gays had taken place but then compared homosexuals to drug dealers and other criminals.
“Why should they get sympathy?” he asked. “Don’t you have capital punishment in the United States?”
...
Some international gay rights groups believe that more than 4,000 lesbians and gay men have been executed since the Ayatollahs seized power in 1979.
Gee, no wonder he denies the Holocaust.

Ahmadinejad Fever
Once in a blue moon, some scumbag dictator or terrorist comes to New York and a bunch of lefties praise them. Not for their evil deeds, but because they hate America. Of course, the lefties “don’t hate America”. They are the “true patriots”. That’s why they defend our enemies and trash our own leaders. In lefty world, up is down and wrong is right. This is why so many of them defended Stalin back in the day, even though Stalin killed more people than Hitler, many times over. And Castro remains a hero, because of his “great health care system”. The fact that he’s a totalitarian dictator who suppresses free speech and shoots people for trying to escape is conveniently forgotten. See, they have great health care. That makes up for everything. Does that mean they would love Dick Cheney if he got Socialized Medicine passed? Nah, he’s a Republican. You have to have “great health care” and hate America to get lefty love.
Anyway, the latest dufus to come ashore is the world’s dorkiest leader this side of Kim Jong Il. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may or may not have been one of the “students” who took Americans hostage in the 70s Iran Crisis. But now he’s calling for Israel to be wiped off the page of time, or the maps. Whatever. He’s proven himself to be a double-talking media wrangler and it’s clear he can’t be trusted. He comes from a long line of mendacious dorks who like to thumb their nose in America’s face because the yahoos back home eat it up. And even the ones we have here.
I know I’m a Jewish lesbian and he’d probably have me killed. But still, the guy speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon
See what I mean?
Personally, I’m not opposed to letting Ahmadinejad speak. After all, let these clowns hang themselves with their own rope. This is supposed to be a “free country”, so I have no problem with him speaking at Columbia University. My problem is they won’t let conservatives speak. Even though Ahmadinejad is more conservative than anyone here. But he gets a pass because he is an “enemy of America”. That’s the secret to lefty love. Hate America = praise from the NY Times crowd. Why do you think so many celebs do it? Did you think they had principals or something?
And, hey-- I’m not even opposed to him laying a wreath at Ground Zero, even though it’s probably for the 19 hijackers and not the victims. Iran is a supporter of Al Qaeda, but they didn’t have anything to do with 9/11 (as far as we know). We don’t make ourselves look big by demonizing anyone who comes here and wants to pay their respects. It makes us look petty.
America does react to things in a ham-handed fashion, which has inspired a lot of the animus out there. I think we can do a better job in handling the way we treat some of these people like Ahmadinejad. We play into their hands when we get too angry and emotional. The guy is a joke. His own people hate him. Treating him like a F list celebrity would be more in line. Make sure he can’t get into any clubs and have TMZ there to video it. Maybe have tabloids give him the Britney treatment. At east we could get a laugh out of it all.
The fact that he is a holocaust denier and president of a totalitarian regime doesn’t make him anything other that a doofus with power. Most people like him are chumps who got lucky. His luck will run out soon. We shouldn’t give him more power than he already has by making a big deal of him.
UPDATE: Columbia University’s president gave Ahmadinejad a brow beating. Good for him. I’d still like to know why they can’t give conservative speakers a fair shake.
In Another Dimension, You Rule
Parallel universes really do exist, according to a mathematical discovery by Oxford scientists described by one expert as “one of the most important developments in the history of science”.
The parallel universe theory, first proposed in 1950 by the US physicist Hugh Everett, helps explain mysteries of quantum mechanics that have baffled scientists for decades, it is claimed.
In Everett’s “many worlds” universe, every time a new physical possibility is explored, the universe splits. Given a number of possible alternative outcomes, each one is played out - in its own universe.
A motorist who has a near miss, for instance, might feel relieved at his lucky escape. But in a parallel universe, another version of the same driver will have been killed. Yet another universe will see the motorist recover after treatment in hospital. The number of alternative scenarios is endless.
It is a bizarre idea which has been dismissed as fanciful by many experts. But the new research from Oxford shows that it offers a mathematical answer to quantum conundrums that cannot be dismissed lightly - and suggests that Dr Everett, who was a Phd student at Princeton University when he came up with the theory, was on the right track.
Commenting in New Scientist magazine, Dr Andy Albrecht, a physicist at the University of California at Davis, said: “This work will go down as one of the most important developments in the history of science.”
Of course, all of this is based on math theory. But I always loved the idea of a multi-verse.

The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize could go to a climate campaigner such as ex-U.S. Vice-President Al Gore or Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier, reinforcing a view that global warming is a threat to world security, experts say.
The winner of the $1.5 million prize, perhaps the world’s top accolade, will be announced in Oslo on October 12 from a field of 181 candidates. The prize can be split up to three ways.
“There are reasonably good chances that the peace prize will be awarded to someone working to stop the dramatic climate problems the world is facing,” said Boerge Brende, a former Norwegian environment minister.
They also gave the Nobel prize to Yasser Arafat and Jimmy Carter. Not top mention more than a couple frauds. Oops. I repeated myself.
