The Coldest Places on Earth
It’s been below freezing every night this week in Vancouver, Washington. And my heater was out a couple of days. It was like 42 degrees in my house. Fortunately, I had a floor heater to keep me warm during that time. But that’s nothing compared to these places. Holy crap!
I’ve heard of cold so bad your eyes freeze shut when you blink and stuff like that. Yow!
Stupid Lawsuit DuJour
They aren’t just in the US anymore.
A Spanish driver who fatally collided with a cyclist is suing the dead youth’s family 20,000 Euros (£14,830) for the damage the impact of his body did to his luxury car, a Spanish newspaper reported.
Businessman Tomas Delgado says 17-year-old Enaitz Iriondo caused 14,000 Euros (£10,384) of damage to his Audi A8 in the fatal 2004 crash in La Rioja region, the El Pais newspaper reported.
Delgado, who has faced no criminal charges for the incident, wants a further 6,000 Euros (£4,450) to cover the cost of hiring another vehicle while his car was being repaired, El Pais said.

Awesome Home Theaters
The Titanic is the one I would go for. But when I get my own home theater set up, I want it to be art deco. Late 30s, early 40s style.
In the South 1939
Yes, some whites and blacks did get along in the South back then. It wasn’t all like Roots.
L Ron Hubbard Junior Interview
The son of L Ron Hubbard had a lot to say about his father’s religion to Penthouse Magazine in 1983. Here’s the interview in PDF form.
And you should check out this German documentary about Scientology’s secret army and slave camps.
This BBC documentary The Secret Life of L Ron Hubbard is also fascinating.
And don’t forget to watch this one. Spooky.
The Time Magazine article that exposed the religion in the 80s.
Links to the entire Tom Cruise video, uncut, where he talks about disseminating “LRH tech” to the education system and turning 9/11 firemen into LRH admirers. I suspect they are going to get some blow back from this stuff.

Spin
A must see documentary from the 90s about how the press shapes “reality” the way they cover political races. If you haven’t seen it before, it will really open your eyes to how phony the whole thing is.
The Secret Museum of Mankind
This fascinating book came out in 1935 and is full of wonderful pictures of people from a lost time. It covers humanity around the world. It’s amazing how much the world has changed since these pictures were taken. If you like costumes, the local dress in all these places is fascinating. There’s also a lot of stuff about things that no longer exist. Or things you’ve never been exposed to.
UPDATE: It’s back up. New link.
Anon Speaks
The hackers who want to take down Scientology have posted a video on YouTube.

Watch the Gray Men Do Their Little Dance
In the UK you have to pay a tax every year to watch television. It pays for the BBC, which at one time took up most of the TV channels. But now they have satellite and cable.
So what happens if you don’t pay the tax every year (or TV license as they call it)?
Behold, the dance of the bureaucrats. It’s almost comical if it wasn’t so repulsive. But that’s how they do it.

Bon Jovi Loves My Town Contest
This is a sneak preview of a video promoting a contest site that I designed. The site goes live tomorrow.
It’s a contest where you can shoot a video of your town, upload it to YouTube and it can end up playing on the huge video screens at Bon Jovi’s world-wide concert.
Check out the site after midnight. It’ll be up sometime tomorrow.
