Future Boy Conan

Here is part one of episode one. Some people have kindly placed subtitled copies of this fantastic series by Hayao Miyazaki on You Tube. The show is not available in the US. It’s really one of the best anime shows ever made. The writing and storytelling are superb. It’s certainly one of my favorite animated shows, if not the favorite. he story is really addicting and the characters are wonderful.

If you like a good adventure story and have never seen this before, you owe it to yourself.

(If you hate watching it on You Tube go to mininova.com and search on Future Bow Conan. All the episodes are on bit torrent).

Ron Paul on Racism

A lot of talk lately about some of Ron Paul’s old newsletters and whether or not he is a racist. Paul defends himself on CNN. I believe him. A lot of people want to see Paul lose. He isn’t winning, so I don’t know what they’re so afraid of.

Stupid Lawsuit of the Day

This one has to be seen to be believed.

Hurricane Katrina’s victims have put a price tag on their suffering and it is staggering — including one plaintiff seeking the unlikely sum of $3 quadrillion.

The total number — $3,014,170,389,176,410 — is the dollar figure so far sought from some 489,000 claims filed against the federal government over damage from the failure of levees and flood walls following the Aug. 29, 2005, hurricane.

Of the total number of claims, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it has received 247 for at least $1 billion apiece, including the one for $3 quadrillion.

Considering how many billions of dollars of fraud and corruption that went on with FEMA money, I’d say this is a frivolous lawsuit. Scammers ripped off the government and now some of the same people (most likely) want to sue the government? Brilliant!

Yeah, a lot of real suffering has happened in New Orleans, and continues to go on. But the local and state governments have a lot of the blame there. As first responders, they failed to do their duty. Making the problems that much worse. The federal government isn’t designed to magically make people’s lives better. Considering how many billions have been sunk into New Orleans, I’d say they’re doing what they can. Especially when you consider how many crooks are stealing a lot of that money that should go to people who deserve it.

Yes, there is a lot of needless hardship going on. But it’s the system and the people who are at fault. Until corruption is weeded out of government at all levels, and crooks stop taking advantage of disasters, this is all par for the course.

They Stole the Election!

They don’t have Bush/Rove to push around anymore, but that doesn’t stop them from crying fowl this election!

Already the Diebold conspiracy theories are flying fast and loose about the New Hampshire results. Though you have to wonder about the huge polling discrepancy. Somehow, I don’t think it’s the Bradley Effect. Something else is going on.

UPDATE: More Here.

Universe in a Test Tube

Did scientists prove unifying theory and create a baby universe in a test tube? Is our universe an experiment by scientists in an uber-universe?

17 Downloadable Free Graphic Novels

There’s some good ones here. I especially recommend (Alan Moore’s) Swamp Thing, (Grant Morrison’s) Doom Patrol and Fables by my friend Bill Willingham.

It won’t be long before most new comics are found on the internet.

Taylor Hicks Dropped

Poor Taylor. His CD didn’t have any hits and now the record company (J records) have dropped him.

The problem with Taylor is he’s a great performer, but his music hasn’t really set the world on fire. I like his songs, but he needs to make something more dancable. People remember him as wild and crazy Taylor from American Idol. And since then he has been pretty low key and quiet. In the performing world, you have toi stand out and be noticed.

I hope he does better with his next CD. These days, you don’t really need a record deal anyway. The internet makes all kinds of things possible.
