The New Eco-Lie
They’re constantly coming up with a new eco-crisis all the time, because the Green movement is such a cash cow But, as with many previous claims by the movement, the latest one (Evil Plastic Bags) is bogus.
Lord Taverne, the chairman of Sense about Science, said: “The Government is irresponsible to jump on a bandwagon that has no base in scientific evidence. This is one of many examples where you get bad science leading to bad decisions which are counter-productive. Attacking plastic bags makes people feel good but it doesn’t achieve anything.”
Campaigners say that plastic bags pollute coastlines and waterways, killing or injuring birds and livestock on land and, in the oceans, destroying vast numbers of seabirds, seals, turtles and whales. However, The Times has established that there is no scientific evidence to show that the bags pose any direct threat to marine mammals.
They “don’t figure” in the majority of cases where animals die from marine debris, said David Laist, the author of a seminal 1997 study on the subject. Most deaths were caused when creatures became caught up in waste produce. “Plastic bags don’t figure in entanglement,” he said. “The main culprits are fishing gear, ropes, lines and strapping bands. Most mammals are too big to get caught up in a plastic bag.”
He added: “The impact of bags on whales, dolphins, porpoises and seals ranges from nil for most species to very minor for perhaps a few species. For birds, plastic bags are not a problem either.”
The fact is, the eco-movement is full of well meaning people who repeat what they’re told as if its the gospel truth, when 9 times out of ten, someone made it up in order to sell some new cause for money. They love to bash climate critics for taking money from oil companies, yet their whole enterprise is based on guilt graft.
They want to ban things that are not a serious problem for the environment. For example, incandescent lights which arre less toxic than florescent lights. Yet fluorescent bulbs are being forced on us by politicians who are too stupid to do the research.
Once again, the public will be forced to give up sometime more usefl for something inferior because of a false premise. This has got to stop.
Peak Oil is a Myth part 3
I’m sure there’s a lot more undiscovered oil in the US. This is probably the tip of the iceberg.
America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant.
In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.

Why We Should Stop This Madness
The whole CO2 is evil scam plumbs deeper depths of stupidity every day. And it effects us all. Here is a classic example why bureaucrats who believe in this nonsense should not have power. If they keep getting their way, this might be in a building near you.
Consider that millions went into a building like this. That’s money down the drain and they want to keep on with this stupidity. Notice the glowing review the NY Times gave it at the front of the article. There are a lot of people in willful denial.

American Idol Women
I didn’t get a chance to do the recap for the women today. It takes me awhile to write them and I didn’t have the time today. And now the voting results have already been revealed.
I will say a couple of things. I think my favorites did pretty well. The women over all were good this week, but a lot of them are just decent, not as outstanding as they need to be.
Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Amanda Overmyer all did great. Except Amanda keeps looking down when she sings, which makes her look insecure. She needs to stop doing that. Kristie Lee Cook is better than Simon said, but I agree that she’s not as vibrant or original as she needs to be. Syesha Mercado is a hell of a singer, but she has this major ‘tude, which is why the judges just gave her brief comments. She’s extremely talented. But she may just turn off the audience at some point.
It turns out my mom and my brother know Carly Smithson, as they like to go to an Irish Pub in San Diego called the Field where she worked for many years as a server (and sometimes singer). My brother lives near the field and hangs out there a lot, so they know each other pretty good. I just found that out today. They said she’s really nice.
But apparently she dissed Sanjaya in an interview so the Sanjaya fans are mad at her. Yawn.
Anyway, I was sorry to see Danny Noriega go as he was amusing. He was pretty talented, but he was to swishy in that performance and Idol viewers seem to vote off blatantly gay people (Clay Aiken excluded). Danny Hernandez may be at risk because of this, for being an ex-male stripper. But he doesn’t act too gay, so they may forgive him.
I think the women who were voted off (Asia’h Epperson nd Kady Malloy) were very good, but just not special enough in a season where everyone is talented and good looking to one degree or another. Luke Menard was just too bland, so I wasn’t surprised when he went.
It’s a shame about Danny Noriega, but I’m glad Chikezie managed to stay in for another week. I suspect he won’t make it much further, but I think he’s a great throwback to the kind of soul singers I grew up with. He just needs more confidence.

All of them revealed here. I say they look fantastic. I just hope the movie is decent.
These are probably movie poster images. Pictured above is Rorschach, the crazy vigilante character.

Free Wins Again
Like I’ve been saying, making stuff for free on the internet is the new business model. People will pay you for something if they like it. Another artist released his music for free and is making bank.
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails made headlines again this week as he released his new, four-part instrumental album Ghosts I-IV, at a variety of price points, including a $300 super-deluxe package. He’s also giving away Ghosts I at no charge, even throwing the tracks up on The Pirate Bay for anyone to download. And it appears to be working quite well for Reznor, who has managed to sell all 2,500 copies of his $300 package without major label backing or much in the way of splashy marketing. If Reznor’s earlier experiments in digital distribution failed to recoup their costs, he’s clearly learned his lesson: grossing $750,000 in the space of three days isn’t a bad haul for any businessperson.
The way to make money is sell people special versions and/or use advertisement money. There are lots of ways to do it and people are figuring them out. The bottom line is the consumers are winning.
