Warner’s Strange Watchman Strategy
They plan on making a “Takes of the Black Freighter” movie, straight to DVD that precedes Watchman. The movie is based on a comic within the Watchman comic graphic novel. It is a fairly morose pirate story, nothing like the Pirates of the Caribbean, I don’t know how well that will play, but we shall see.
Bwahaha!!
Now, even Democrats are beginning to understand what plenty of people figured out a long time ago. With the Clintons, it’s all about them. They don’t care what you believe, but you better do what they want or you’re the enemy. It’s their world and you are lucky to live in it. Bow down!
It’s hilarious they consider Move On an enemy when Move On was formed to defend Clinton during his impeachment. Their very name comes from a phrase Hillary often used to say that all the scandals were “Old News, And its time to Move On”. But because the Clintons will fight for the nomination till the end they will split the Democrats and ensure a McCain victory. I said this months ago. I am saying it again. Here is an example why,
UPDATE: It gets funnier.
I Want One
Creepy
A JAPANESE man puzzled by food mysteriously disappearing from his refrigerator got a shock when he discovered a woman had been living in his home for months without permission, police said today.
The 57-year-old man who lives alone - or so he thought - in the western city of Fukuoka installed a security camera and called the police when he saw images of someone walking around his home while he was out.
“We searched the house in the man’s presence. We found the woman in the closet,” said a local police spokesman.
The woman, named as 58-year-old Tatsuko Horikawa, was found in a flat storage space only just big enough for a person to squeeze into lying down.

Gosh, Really?
Let’s get something straight, OK? Governments invent crises from whole cloth so they can then pass laws and legislation and claim they are “solving the problem”. Which never existed, but the end result is more laws and less liberties. Case in point (at least the Australians have the guts to say this in their press).
AUSTRALIA’S childhood obesity epidemic has been “exaggerated” and government-led national prevention efforts may be misdirected, with childhood obesity only increasing in lower-income families.
Controversial new research into childhood obesity rates has called into question whether the millions of dollars allocated by the Federal Government for obesity prevention programs should be targeted to the highest-risk groups, rather than focused at the general population.
The findings, based on measurements taken from thousands of Australian children in two nationally representative samples in 2000 and 2006, found that the growth in childhood obesity overall has slowed to a crawl, and the only statistically significant increases are now among boys and girls from low-income homes, The Australian reports.
The same BS is true here. Look around. Do you really see fat people everywhere? They claim the majority of Americans are fat. Most people look perfectly fine to me. Certainly even the chubby ones I see are rarely obese. I won’t deny I’m obese. I am working on it. At least I exercise and watch what I eat (usually). But frankly, I think this growing fanaticism against obesity, which sounds too much like anti-smoking zealotry (and global warming hysteria) is not a good thing. Sure, it might help and encourage some people to eat better and lose weight, but it will lead to more laws restricting choices and punishing those who don’t have a weight problem. Why should the majority be punished for the (alleged) sins of the few?
Minutemen

From the upcoming “Watchmen” movie directed by Zack (300) Snyder. This is teh 1940s superhero team that precedes the heroes in Watchmen.
Interesting Bookstores and Libraries
These look very cool. I definitely want to check out the Shakesphere and Friends bookstore next time I am in Paris. And the library in Seattle is on my list when I finally get up there to see the place. I’ve been up here 9 months now and still haven’t made that trip.
REVIEW: Sex and the CIty
Just kidding. Didn’t see it.
UPDATE: Well, now I have. I used to like the show believe it or not and no, I am not gay. I think it’s well written and that was my main interest. I like the dialog Each episode of the series had some kind of theme and they did a good job of putting it together. The big problem with the show is that the characters are mostly narcissistic, self-centered, consumerist whiners. They expect perfection in men, but when they get some saint of a boyfriend they treat them badly. Carrie had a boyfriend named Aiden who loved her and was great, and she cheated on him relentlessly. She kind of paid for it, but not really. Charlotte is the only half way decent one, but she’s kind of a bigot. But she ends up marrying a Jew, so I guess that sort of makes up for it.
The movie also has a theme, and a lot of reviews I’ve read miss the point entirely. Yes, the characters on the show don’t appreciate what they’ve got (except Charlotte), but they lose it only to find out the value of what they’ve lost and learn about themselves in the process.
I’d say it was a decent romantic comedy. It runs longer than it should, but it tells the stories of five women (Carrie’s new assistant being #5). The movie is basically made for the fans of teh show, as it tells us where the lives of the characters are since the series ended, and ends with where they are going. The status quo at the end is exactly what I expected. No real surprises there.
Over all, if you like the series, you should like the movie. If not, then don’t bother. It’s more of the same, only longer. I don’t know where they could go with a sequel, but seeing how huge it is this weekend, there probably will be one.

Strange Birds

These gigantic flying dinosaurs are new ones to me. I’ve never heard of them. Pretty amazing that anything that large could fly around. But apparently they did most of their hunting on the ground.
Those are some big birds! As goofy as they look, I wouldn’t want to be near one that was alive.
