29 Days to Hell?
Reeducation camps churning out ideological worshipers. All in a recession with inflation out of control. Shades of the 70s, man.
Are leftist “liberals” just immune to noticing the signs of potential facist regimes?? Or are they really so lazy to improve their own lives that they’re willing to give up their freedoms to someone who can supposedly improve their lives for them?
I’m also reminded of how George Lucas used the Star Wars prequals to show how a nation can willingly give itself up to facisim. Ofcourse, like most people in Hollywood, he assumed it would be some scary warmongering conservative old guy who would lead the Republic into a dictatorship. For some reason they always fail to see how it’s usually a young charismatic socialist guy who makes “The People” fall in love with him with his big ideas of “Change/Hope” so much so that “The People” fail to notice anything wrong.
Posted by TJ_X on 10/07 at 11:44 AMTotalitarian regimes are almost always socialist and use leftist propaganda to hide what they’re really about. This is something so many so called progressives fail to understand.
And this tendency for Democrats to look at their leaders in an almost worshipful way make sit easy for Dem leaders to abuse their trust and get away with murder.

Now that you mention it, Palpatine in Star Wars is a lot more like Hitler than people realize.
There’s no way Hitler would have lasted as long as he did in Germany if he’d been the way he was lampooned in the West prior to World War II, or demonized in propaganda films after the start of World War II.
There have been a number of films like “Downfall” and some recent documentaries that show a lighter side of Hitler and his extreme discomfort in some social situations. He did enough things right in Germany economically and delivered enough politically—while maintaining a friendly “Uncle” persona in the popular press (which he mostly controlled after 1933)—to stay in power for 12 years.
Lefties just don’t want to admit one of their kind did this. Instead, they re-label him a right-winger conveniently ignoring the “socialist” part of National Socialism. To this day, they still insist Germans are “genetically” prone to look to leaders like Hitler! That’s nonsense. It’s human nature to look to a strong leader in bad times. They don’t want to admit it’s been the left-wing dictators who have been horribly tyrannical and the worst homicidal maniacs for the past century. You just have to be careful and scrutinize them like any politician. You can surrender too much freedom if you’re feeling TOO comfortable… or afraid.
If you want a good example of where the “Hitler phenomenon” has occurred, just look to South America with its Peronist regimes and the current Nut-In-Charge in Venezuela. Same thing. Granted, they haven’t been as economically successful as Hitler initially was, but the whole kind-hearted persona to the “general public” (or ignorant, if you will) and charisma (to enough people) still applies.
You don’t have to convince the majority of people you’re great. You just have to convince enough of the people who vote and shmooze with enough power-brokers.
Don’t you just love how honest politics really are? :(
Posted by on 10/08 at 01:33 AMThe only thing that separates Hitler from other leftist totalitarians is his racist ideology, which doesn’t make him right wing. Dictators always find an excuse to separate groups so they can target the ones they don’t like. Pol Pot went after intellectuals (which he included as anyone who wears glasses).
Dictators love socialism because it gives the state power over all aspects of society. It’s no surprise than almost every single extreme dictatorship or junta in modern times has had a socialist government.
