American Idol: 3/6/2007 Men
I’ll keep this one short because tonight was mostly nothing special. Chris and Blake were the standouts. Blake remains my favorite of the guys. He is probably the most hip and current performers to grace the show. He is also one of the most versatile. He should make the final three with no problem.
The bottom three tonight, in my opinion was Sanjaya again. But the little girls will probably keep him in, so I think the following singers are in danger: Phil Stacy who is a great singer, but was kind of blah today. Jared Cotter, who sang OK, but not all that inspiring. I also think Sundance was rather so so, even though I like the song.
Those three are probably in trouble. Everyone else is probably fine. But it wasn’t the best of nights. Chris Sligh probably sang the best. But I didn’t care for the song. I was really happy with Brandon Rogers choice, but it’s not really a singer’s song. I think he pulled it off, though.
All in all, it this was not the best of nights for the show. I expect the women will once again outshine the men. The final five will probably be two men and three women. We’ll see.
Yeah, last night was blah. Blake was the only one who held my interest.
What’s up with Paula? Usually she has something nice to say about everyone, even as she offers suggestions for improvement. She was harsh last night, though.
Posted by on 03/07 at 06:27 AMPaula usually contributes nothing of substance, last night was more of the same. The judges are probably right, though; only 3-4 of the guys belong in the top 12. Chris and Blake are my favorites, but the ladies will probably outshine them once they get combined into one group.
Posted by Paul T on 03/07 at 08:45 AMI’m hoping Phil makes it to the 12. My best friends have met him and heard him perform before. They say he is really good. He is the nephew-in-law of one of their good friends.
His problem is he just can’t seem to start a song. I think his song choice was a very bad one. And that hat was really bad.
Posted by on 03/07 at 09:53 AMYeah, Phil is a good singer. But that was a mess last night.
Posted by James Hudnall on 03/07 at 10:33 AMPhil is very good, but he has to either stay out of that bottom part of his range, or he needs to fix the problem. He kind of drops his jaw on the low note and he loses the vowel shape and it comes out kind of low and airy and kind of deforms the word he is singing. That song choice really made the error stand out. Hopefully he makes it through the cut, and some good coaching will help him a lot. Chris Sligh is still my fave. I won’t comment yet on the girls because it may not have aired yet in your time zone.
