American Idol 5/8
We’re at the final four. Last year it was Taylor Hicks, Katherine McPhee, Elliot Yamin and Chris Daughtry. Daughtry went home. This year we have Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Lakisha Jones.
I think Lakisha will go tomorrow. She did OK, but she did not wow them. And while judges were critical of Blake, I think he will skate through this week. I didn’t think he was that bad. Especially his cover of Staying Alive, which I rather liked.
Melinda and Jordin were the best tonight, and I think they will fight it out in the finale. But Blake has a strong fan base, being the only guy left in the competition. He might have a shot, but I think it’ll be Melinda or Jordin who take home the crown. I’m betting on Melinda, who has been outstanding every week. Jordin has some real star quality, so it all comes down to whether she’ll fumble the ball. I think that’s a possibility as her second song of the evening was kind of weak.
I love Barry Gibb’s music. I as disappointed they didn’t sing some of my faves. I thought Heartbreaker, which he wrote for Dionne Warwick would hav worked really well for any of the ladies. Oh, well.
I’m not as excited about this year as last because I’m not really rooting for anyone in particular. But they all deserve record deals and I will be surprised if they don’t get it.
UPDATE: I was right. Lakisha is gone. Once more she ignored the good advice of the mentor to her detriment. Barry Gibb knows what he’s doing. Blake was #1 on Dial Idol and Zabasearch. But they made it look like he was in the bottom 2. Who knows? I think it will be a Melinda/Jordin finale and a toss up who will win.
My fav is still Jordin. She has an AI vibe.....so cute too.....she’s young, pretty and ohso talented. I agree with what Gibb said, she could be a lasting talent!
Posted by on 05/09 at 02:23 AMDial Idol has Melinda & Lakisha too close to call. If Melinda goes this week...the same as Daughtry did last year...the big suprise oust would be such the big suprise. NOT! Instead, fourth would really become the new first.
I believe that Melinda has secured her future by showcasing her talent each and every week. She is the big reason I still watch the show. I look forward to attending her concerts and buying her music.
Posted by on 05/09 at 04:04 AMI haven’t been too thrilled with Idol this year and after last night I don’t much care about any of them. I can’t see myself buying any of their records except for maybe Blake.
I wish Idol would take their songwriting competition & make a version for singer/songwriters. Just being a good singer doesn’t do it for me to spend money on an album.
Posted by joy on 05/09 at 06:03 AMI’m guessing LaKisha is gone this week.
Every week, the celebrity bard tells her “Do X instead of Y and you’ll nail it” and every week LaDiva ignores the advice, sings the song her way, and then gets lambasted by the judges for it. I think this week it’s gonna sink her.
Blake’s beat boxing got real old this week, and normally I’m one to cut him some slack for it because he doesn’t do it to excess. The songs really, really didn’t need his type of editorializing.
Jording - Sigh. To be seventeen again. She’s got it made, I think, and this coming from one of Melinda’s biggest fans.
Posted by on 05/09 at 07:04 AMI don’t understand why Melinda is at the bottom 2. But seeing Blake as #1 is interesting considering how he got slammed last night. I guess his fans are very engaged a this point.
