An Earth Without People

Wishful thinking from the greenies. There are people who think the world would be better off without us and fantasize about it. The only problem with that fantasy, is what’s the point? If people aren’t here, who would care or be self righteous about it.

  1. So, that would make these people suicidal then, right...?

  2. Still...it looks like a pretty neat book. It would be interesting to see how fragile out infrastucture really is.  People take roads, lights, and clean water for granted.  We it is a fragile, work intensive system.

I think that I will give it a read.

  3. I agree. Especially since I write SF stories. It would make useful reference. smile

  4. The Greenies probably don’t want ALL the people to disappear, just the ones that don’t think like them. The irony is that same people wailing about the fragility of the environment and all the damage we do to it don’t seem to respect how fast it would overtake us if we let it. That article illustrates how all the achievements of our civilization could be wiped off the map in mere decades by the whims of nature, as if we were never here. That’s why the idea of humans having such an impact on something so much older, larger, and more powerful than us is just laughable to me.

  5. Absolutely. Nature is unbelievably powerful. Ask the people of New Orleans.

Nature could wipe us out very easily and it may yet. What we do is try to manage things to make the world more livable for us. We once had life expectancies of 30. That’s what going back to nature will get you.
