Bad Choices Once Again
It looks like this election is shaping up to be 2000 all over again. I didn’t vote in that election necause I disliked my choices. This time our choice seems to be a crazy old coot and a lying, shrill harpy.
I’ve been rooting for Obama to win the Democrat nomination, not just because I don’t like the Clintons, but because I think he actually has a few good ideas. He seems less compromised that Hillary who will be more of the same.
Hillary is leading in all the state polls, as is McCain. It’s possible there might be an upset, but at this point, it looks like we’re stuck between the two of them.
I give McCain credit for being a true fiscal conservative. But he’s a 70s Democrat for all intents and purposes. Hillary is an establishment candidate who will be the Democrat’s Bush. And four or eight more years of Bill Clinton on TV is going to be torture.
McCain might beat her, though. Especially if he gets someone like Thompson as VP. Thompson will help bring in the Southern vote which is needed to win the election. If McCain chooses Huckabee as VP, I don’t want to think about it.
All in all, I may sit this one out unless it looks close. Then I will vote for McCain. He is a lot more credible than Hillary. He has the experience she doesn’t and he would probably be a good Commander-in-Chief. But if you hate war, both McCain and Hillary are not your candidates. Bill Clinton sent our troops into more engagements than any president in history and McCain is a major saber rattler.
There are a number of character issues that are ringing warning bells with Hillary, not the least of which was her ‘I’ve found my own voice’ moment in New Hampshire (which would mean she’s been spewing horsecrap for over a year, and that Bill’s criticisms of Obama are also hers).
But I definitely get a better sense of Obama working WITH people. Hillary gives me the impression that she’ll be just as intractable and shrewish as she’s ever been - fifteen years, and you still can’t get a health care initiative kick-started? Couldn’t do it as First Lady, can’t do it as a Senator ... methinks there’s something fundamentally wrong with the plan, as opposed to not being in the right office.

I actually like Obama. I doubt I would vote for him, because I do disagree with some of his views on a few key areas, but his platform is pretty intelligent and he seems like a classy candidate. Which is rare these days.
Posted by on 01/30 at 11:39 AMI doubt McCain would choose Huckabee as running mate. MN governor Tim Pawlenty has had soaring approval ratings pretty much his entire time there, and is doing tons of campaigning for him, leading many to believe he’d be McCain’s choice for VP.
Would you be more inclined to vote for Romney over McCain? Now that Thompson’s done, who is your favorite?
Posted by on 01/30 at 10:30 PMMcCain’s temper is scary. He should be no where near the nuclear trigger.

I don’t have any favorites in this race, I would rather have Romney than McCain, but something about Romney rubs me the wrong way.
I would rather have Obama than Clinton, but Obama’s foreign policy ideas are naive at best.
Ron Paul isn’t going to get the nomination. I agree with many of his stands, but disagree on several major points. Like Obama, I think his foriegn policy ideas are too naive.
