Beautiful Dubai
Based on this ex-pat American’s view of the place, I’m not so interested in going there now.
It sounds like they have a hell of a lot of work to do.
And why does the middle east have to be so bass ackwards?
We watched a special on the National Geographic channel last month about Dubai. They focused on the building of the “7-star” hotel and the islands. I was surprised by how many Americans were involved in the construction.
One little piece of trivia - if you’re gay and travel to Dubai, do not do anything that in any way appears “gay-like”. Homosexuality there is punishable by death.

It sounds like Iraq without the car bombs. A friend came back from Iraq and told about how the toilet facilities are the same there, also. Holes in the ground. You have to wipe yourself with your hand and they give you a jug of water to wash your hand with. Nice.

The driving is insane here as well, but thankfully they haven’t funded traffic cameras yet.
