Bogus Story of the Day

A scientist who subscribed to the ozone hole theory (that man was making it bigger) is claiming we “solved” the problem.

THE ozone layer is on track to a full recovery, with the latest sets of satellite images showing the hole is shrinking, scientists say.

“Apart from the (unusual) 2002 hole, this is the smallest hole for at least a decade,” CSIRO marine and atmospheric scientist Paul Fraser said.

The hole in the ozone layer has been progressively shrinking since the phase-out of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and halon gases in the 1990s.

“I think our long term prediction is still basically out to 2060 before we’ll get long-term recovery,” Dr Fraser said.

File this under backing up the AGW argument with propaganda. The “ozone hole” is a little understood and natural phenomena that occurs over the South Pole in the Northern Hemisphere’s Autumn.  It’s a seasonal, fluctuating vortex. The so called hole was only studied in recent times, so they have no idea what it was like 60 or 200 years ago.

The hysterics who were crying doom in the 80s were wrong then. It was never a problem, nor was it going to cause everyone to get skin cancer as the alarmist claimed. These same alarmist switched gears after the Montreal Protocols were signed and moved on to Anthropogenic Global Warming. Now they’re inundating us with the same baseless hysterics and fear mongering.
