Scientists from around the world gathered Monday in Paris to finalize a long-awaited, authoritative report on climate change, expected to give a grim warning of rising temperatures and sea levels worldwide.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is to unveil its latest assessment of the environmental threat posed by global warming on Friday.

As the panel meets, the planet is the warmest it has been in thousands of years - if not more - and international concern over what to do about it is at an all-time high.

“At no time in the past has there been such a global appetite” for reliable information on global warming, the panel’s chairman, Rajendra Pachauri of India, told the conference.

If the public wants reliable info, a UN committee isn’t the place to get it. The UN is all about guilting rich nations into giving their bureaucrats more power and money. It’s no coincidence that the people pushing the GW agenda are stateists. People who are in love with nany states and socialistic control.

But corporations and Republicans may have found a way to neutralize this nonsense. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, and then the public will forget about it and move on.

Millions will be wasted on pointless exercises.  But like the EU’s attempts at curbing carbon emissions, it will amount to nothing more than a dog and pony show.

The bad news is the usual suspects will get richer in the process. But what else is new?

  1. As the panel meets, the planet is the warmest it has been in thousands of years - if not more

That is an outrageous lie.  I am flabbergasted by their gall.  Ever hear of the Medieval Warm Period, geniuses? When wine grapes were grown in England?  When Greenland was, y’know, green?  Is it like that now?  And they call themselves “scientists.”
The GW Acolytes have recently asked for the formation of a sort of Court of the Climate Inquisition where heretic climatologists could be tried, and they’ve also suggested any meteorologist who doesn’t publicly claim fealty to GW should be stripped of their credentials.
I wonder what crazed Lysenkoism is yet to come from these lunatics?

  2. It is a lie. But they don’t care. They want money and power and will do anything to get it. Hence, they want some kind of Stalinist purge of non-believers.

    They really are evil.

  3. I am not saying if this is true or not.  All I want to point out is that the The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is considered THE most authoritative group discussing global warming. The coalition consists of hundreds different kinds of scientists from like 20 countries and every thing the do is published on the website and in almost every scientific journal to be subjected to peer reviews.

I am not telling you this to change your opinion.  But as one who works in the scientific community, this is a real big deal because now policy makers have real fire power.  So dont just dismiss this as b.s., this is what every policy maker with an environmental agenda in the entire world will be using to back up their views.

in my job, we were warned that this would be comming out months ago, and to watch out for the backlash.

    it will come too.

  4. Peer reviews are worthless if the peers are fellow ideologues. It’s like a peer review of the Koran if the reviewers were all Mullahs.

And the fact is, IPCC TAR was throughly trashed. So much so that they are reportly cutting their climate change estimates in half in the new report.

Further, reading all these articles that are coming out, one sees one lie after another. If they are getting their information from a leaked report, then this thing is another piece of crap.

It doesn’t matter if thousands, or millions of scientists buy into this stuff if they are wrong. And scientists are often wrong. Especially when dealing with areas like Climate where we are still pretty much in the dark.

  5. All the methodologies, assumptions, facts, and measurements from the past 20 years are all available to the open public.  Perhaps you should read it before making such derisive generalizations.

You are an ideologue and you assume too much.

  6. I have. Apparently, you haven’t. Or you lack an education in science.

  7. I’m going with Hud on this one.

I DO have a Bachelor’s of Science degree (pre-med, heavy on biology) so I CAN say that the science community IS heavily biased politically.  No question most college professors ARE liberal and that many people working for the government ARE liberals and that they ARE seeking grant money.

There is a presumption by these people that they are ENTITLED to our taxpayer money.  Unfortunately for them, they are required like any sane person to produce results to ensure a steady cashflow for their research and that’s why so many junk reports get released every year.

Reports get released early without the type of back-up data and repeat experimentation to make sure that the conclusions of said-reports are valid.  This happens all the time with food-scares and health fads in ADDITION to overhyped phenomena like bird flu and global warming.

I’m old enough to have seen the whole debate about temperature flip-flop back and forth between scientists saying we’re entering a new Ice Age (30 years ago) to scientists saying we’re NOW entering global warming (the past ten years or so).

I’m sorry, but it’s not stupid to be VERY skeptical about these claims about global warming when the expert “ideologues” have changed their tactics 3 and 4 times within the past 50 years to grab more taxpayer money.
