BSG Returns

Battlestar Galactica got picked up for a fourth season. Next season, apparently, one of the crew will be revealed as a Cylon. Probably Baltar, but who knows?

  3. Okay, I’m a sci-fi fan.... but am I the only one who thinks that BG is way too much drama and not enough action?  I stopped watching it because I got bored.

  4. Yeah, a lot of people have that complaint. With me, it depends on the drama. Still, it has a strong cult following. Just not enough to be a success.

  5. SciFi has not helped this show by moving it to Sunday at 10pm. I’m still not sure I see the rationale there. It’s getting more difficult each week to justify staying up to watch it.

The (or, I should say my) attraction to the new BSG was the way the interpersonal drama drove the action, and vice versa. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by B5 and Firefly, but when nothing really happens, when there’s no story-arc-level resolution or revelation, it drops to the level of a soap opera. That’s where it’s been for most of this season, IMHO, and this last week’s “morality play” episode was a fine example. Bleccchh.

  8. That’s why god invented the Tivo

  9. Yeah. I’ve considered it.

Better yet though, cable T.V. sucks so bad, and is so insultingly overloaded with commercials (hey, I’m already paying for the privilege!!), that I’ve also considered just canceling cable altogether and waiting to Netflix stuff like this on DVD. If it weren’t for my wife’s addiction to FoodTV, I’d have gone that route a while ago.

  10. I admit I don’t watch this show.

It’s just more of the same melodramatic depressing sort of thing I don’t need to see.

Like a lot of the CW/WB shows, it follows a sort of “we can’t ever give these guys a break” mentality…

This and the fact that I still have fond memories of the original Battlestar Galactica which this show surely isn’t.

I wish they had called it something else because it’s NOT Galactica to me and never will be.
