Captain America and Thor
They’re making a Thor movie. But first they’re making Captain America (after the do Hulk 2). There’s also another Punisher movie on the way. Sheesh!
All these films are getting good directors. I was kind of jealous to find out the superhero movie Universal has coming out before mine, Wanted, will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov the Night Watch guy. I hope I get so lucky.
At least comic movies are treated like royalty now. Thank you, Sam Raimi,
Timur totally messed up the Night Watch movies.
Or are you being sarcastic?Posted by on 06/15 at 01:40 AMHey, your comic has its own IMDB listing. Thats cool. I have no idea how hollywood works, but I hope things get going.
It must be amazing to watch one of your creations come to life like that all on its own.
But like I said before, i have no idea what it takes to make a movie. I imagine there are huge obsticals everywhere that can really stall out or even kill the movie.

FF2 is gonna be a mess of a film. The pre-release reviews for the film have been abyssmal.
Considering what Marvel has done to Thor and Captain America (henceforth known as Cap from here on out) in the comics the past few years, I don’t hold out much hope for the quality of those films.
Avi Arad only cares about getting his money upfront and couldn’t care less about the scripts. Look what his enforced Venom storyline did to Spider-Man 3! Raimi lost partial control of Spidey 3 and it turned out to be such a cl!sterf*ck as a result.
Stan Lee is a mere figurehead and lost the touch he head in the 1960s. Without a good Kirby or Ditko, he’s still entertaining but can’t create anything NEW better than Todd McFarlane or most of the current hacks at Marvel Comics now. Stan’s latest project is a Paris Hilton animated series? Didn’t he learn anything from Stripperella?
Really, really concerned about Cap. It could be going anti-government for the sake of getting at the more traditional political crowd (anybody to the RIGHT of the Democratic leadership), or cheesy as hell. I just don’t expect subtlety and careful script crafting there. No sir, not from Hollywood!
As for Thor, has anybody in Hollywood read ANYTHING outside of Variety or The Hollywood Reporter in 20 years? They may get the superficial look of the character right, but you gotta understand the MYTHOLOGY of the character and cast him right. I just have a bad feeling they’ll cast a musclehead who sounds like the Swedish chef from The Muppet Show!
Sorry to be so negative, but it’s just be another abyssmal year for films. The summer’s not gonna get better before the end of August I tell ya…

How so? I love his visual style. It’s amazing.
Testify,
It’s scheduled to go into production next year. I am crossing my fingers. To answer your question, the process is really slow. It took forever for a Spiderman movie to get made. Forrest Gump was in production 10 years. It’s all about the stars aligning properly and so on.
GeorgeC,
I expect most of them to suck. All I said is they are getting good directors. But the script is the key. I am waiting to see what Vaughn does with Stardust, but I loved Layer Cake. I suspect Iron Man will blow. And Thor does not make sense as a feature fuilm. They would have to radically change him from the comic for it to work and therin lies the problem.
