I was always astounded that the Euros were so eager to hand over their lives to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, until Peter Goll pointed out to me it was simply the Europeans yearning for a return to the monarchy, but updated for the 20th century Euro-Socialist mentality.
Yup. Instead of absolute power deriving from the monarchy, it comes from the Gnomes of Bruxelles instead; and instead of a palace and throne, there’s a glass and steel tower full of faceless drones writing 200 page edicts on the legal amount of curvature for bananas and issuing criminal charges for selling beer in pints.
