Double Standard DuJour
Iran is breaking the Geneva convention and not a peep from the leftists so concerned about the rights of alleged terrorists. Gosh, what a surprise.
Instead you have people here burning effigies of American soldiers calling for the deaths of our troops.
And then they get outraged when you call them traitors.
So Iran plans to try the captured British soldiers as spies, even though they were captured in neutral waters in uniform, which automatically makes them NOT spies. I wonder what we should do with the 300 Iranian non-uniformed agents we captured in Iraq then: http://pajamasmedia.com/2007/03/us_holds_300_prisoners_linked.php.
Posted by Paul T on 03/26 at 06:16 AMIran played this game when they kidnapped people in our embassy in the70s and held them hostage. The government of Iran is despicable and they are asking for trouble.
Posted by James Hudnall on 03/26 at 07:55 AMBut do not question their patriotism. I read that a man dropped trou and dumped on an American flag, in front of women and children no less. I also read that someone asked if they had purchased carbon offsets before all of the burning.

As I usually point out to them, since they only apply to uniformed combatants of sovereign nations, both of whom have signed the agreement, they have nothing, repeat double underlined NOTHING to do with our fight against terrorism: which is, in fact, specifically excluded from any and all protections under the Convention, including military tribunals. Enemy combatants out of uniform may be shot on sight and if captured bearing arms, may be summarily executed instead of taken prisoner.
Frankly, I’m all for us following the real Geneva Conventions, myself. Too bad the USA never signed them.Posted by on 03/26 at 04:09 PM
