Drunk of the Century
The 20th Century. He was a movie star. Sort of. He also used to get rides to school by Samuel Beckett, the playwright. Beckett wrote “Waiting for Godot” so you could say he was waiting for Beckett.
Anyway, this amazing drinker did 7,000 calories worth of booze every single day. Yeah.
Mr. Hudnall:
I believe you have confused Andre with me......

You got me! Come to think of it, maybe it was Faulkner I used to drink with......it’s all so bleary now.....Reminds me of a notation I have in an old address book, “Phnom Penh, A Fog of Beautiful Memories.” Andre’s consumption is mind boggling “119 beers in six hours. That’s a beer every three minutes, non stop.” I thought my father was bad. He and my uncle used to drive between different towns in North Carolina, and they would bet who could drink the most beers on the way. I though 66 beers in 2.5 hours (between the two of them) was prodigious, but that pales in comparison to Andre!
