England Becomes France

The British seem to be surrendering to the Muslims one step at a time. The question is, why? They never took such measures for other minorities.

Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Governmentbacked study has revealed.

It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.

There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades - where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem - because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.

The findings have prompted claims that some schools are using history ‘as a vehicle for promoting political correctness’.

The study, funded by the Department for Education and Skills, looked into ‘emotive and controversial’ history teaching in primary and secondary schools.

The very idea of not wanting to offend people is offensive. It’s impossible to not offend people. So choose you you decide not to offend is in itself, discrimination.

  1. I am very surprised by this. I went to school in London for 6 and 7th grade and in Belgium for my Junior year of high school.  (graduated class of ‘99).

All were international schools and I had a British professor for all my history classes.

Anyways, those guys were brutal.  They didn’t hold back any punches, especially my teacher my Junior Year, Professor Thornton.  He certainly managed to offend me as an American, warned the German kids on the first day of class the holocaust will get covered and no excuses will be made, made an Israeli girl cry after talking about the horrors of the 6 Day War, made me feel sympathetic to the Russians, and smiled at my classmate Pierre every time the French bungled something in modern history.

At the time in 1998 there were a lot of embassy bombings going on and the Muslim population was especially hated. It was enough to say that Brussels (home of the EU) was rather politically charged at the time.  In the end he gave me a greater perspective on the world than almost any other person I have ever met.  He firmly believed that no other World War I or II scale war will ever happen again because we have done a fantastic job in the last 10 years killing ourselves.

I really can’t imagine an English professor teaching things any other way.

  2. Well, I guess this means the 15 navy personnel are toast. I mean, can’t offend anyone by rescuing them. What a pathetic society.

  3. Bob,

You can look in the history books. (whats left of them anyways) Most rescue missions end up making things worse.

This is a more delicate situation.  The Russians just refused Iran their nuke and Iran is looking for a fight.  Sending Rambo is might not be the best idea. We already have joint forces dong manuvers right on the coast.  That is a pretty big statement in itself.

I got a feeling that all that will happen is a dozen Brits get humiliated and then get released. Send in Rambo, and we could have a third major conflict on our already strung out hands.

Also, is anyone surprised by how little news coverage this is getting? There is bearly a blip on MSN.com.  I mean, I have to go to, of all places, Fox news just to find out whats happening.

  4. Testify,

MSN, like CNN are really bad sources of information. They are so ideological it’s laughable. Yes, Fox is to some extent, but they try to be less so to compensate for being attacked so much by lefties. MSN and CNN don’t care.

There was a CNN correspondent in Baghdad who heckled John McCain recent during a visit. What kind of professionalism is that?

I think Iran is trying to provoke us, knowing we’re not inclined to attack. So they want to humiliate us the way they did during the 70s Hostage crisis. It’s how they want to show the West as being weak.

I think it will backfire on them. Though, we shall see.
