Final Spiderman 3 Trailer
That was pure unadulterated “Cool.”
The first 2 spiderman movies are some of the best comic book movies ever made, in my anonymous opinion. Despite some of the lore changes, I think they truly retain the spirit of the original comics. X-Men 1 and 2 were very close; Superman Returns I’m still ambivalent about (can’t put my finger on why I don’t especially like it); the new Punisher was fun in a Charles Bronson sort of way; Fantastic Four I enjoyed but I think it needed a bigger budget and more of a sense of wonder (tho FF 2 looks pretty cool so far); etc.
I’m really looking forward to Spidey 3.
Posted by on 03/25 at 05:18 AMI think there are a couple problems with Superman Returns. The big one is the idea that Superman abandoned us to go check out the ruins of his planet and left Lois Lane knocked up (though he didn’t know it at the time, it still looks bad). We don’t expect that kind of thing from Superman.
Also, there was a general lack of action.
Comics moviews are really dominating the Box Office right now. First 300, now TMNT.

They made too many changes from the comics in the other films, the casting choices STANK in most cases in the other film series, and X-Men in particular looks like a big-budget TV series with costuming provided by Gay Hell’s Angels.

I think the reason many comic book films are doing well is that the filmmakers are keeping it simple.
Great movies? Well, that’s arguable at any point and NONE of these films are really what you would call “Godfather"-calibre in acting, story, or feature “deep” character motivation.
Perhaps it’s their simple escapist nature that appeals to people in a time where the news media is making EVERYTHING out to be complicated issues with two-hundred different sides to them.
There’s also a morality to many of these films that is lacking in the culture-at-large. Their IS right and wrong—not just black, white, and shades of grey.
I really don’t think it’s a big mystery that the original Spider-Man movie was such a big hit in the aftermath of 9/11.
I suspect that as long as Spidey 3 doesn’t get TOO complicated that it will be the biggest hit this year.

Spidy has three villains, so if it doesn’t get too complicated I will be impressed.
