Floating City 2000

When I was in high school, I used to design futuristic cities. These were the days before compute games like Sim City.

I used to imagine how the city would function, how to make it work better than a normal city and so on. It was fun, but now I realize how off I was in some of my ideas. Kind of like this imagined futuristic floating city. It’s more of an Arcology than a city, But it’s kind of cool in that retro way.

It’s funny how similar it looks to the arcology exaqmple picture on that Wikipedia article.

  1. Man, I wish they’d hurry up and make these cities, already!  They’re really holding up the future.  smile

Interesting that they’re attempting something similar in the Bronx (where I’m originally from).  There are a few remotely high-tech areas there, though much of it now looks like a ghetto confinement for the poor ethnic community.  (And for me, one tragedy is that there is only ONE MOVIE THEATER in the Bronx; All the ones I went to are gone now!)
