Guilty!

OJ Simpson finally got convicted. He could do 15 to life.
I can’t forget that murder trial, which he walked from 13 years ago. And then all those years inbetween with him goofing on the golf course and making jokes about his murdered wife.
The way he handled the situation that got him in trouble this time pretty much confirmed the thuggish nature of the juice. He may have skated on his murder, but people like that can’t stay out of trouble for long.
It’s funny, all my life until the murder, OJ seemed like a harmless goofy guy. I’ll never forget those Hertz commercials he used to do. Or the character he played in the Naked Gun movies.
The real OJ was something else entirely, as we now know.
This is a guy who viciously murdered two people, and left plenty of evidence around, including a trail of blood from her house to his. Yet, because of the anger in the black community at the time, post Rodney King, OJ’s lawyers were able to make it all about race. Even though OJ was the most Uncle Tom character you could imagine at the time. Even though he mostly had white friends and a dated white women. Even though he had a lot of cop friends, they tried to make it out that the cops were out to get him because he was so black.
That really stuck in a lot of people’s craws. Even though black people in places like LA have been harassed by the police a lot over the years, here was a guy who was almost as white as Michael Jackson.
You just knew that OJ would not be able to skate forever. Too many people still hate his guts. But he probably won’t be going to prison any time soon. He will file an appeal and that can drag things out for years.
Regardless, he will have his freedom restricted even further now. Game over.
If there is justice in the Courts, OJ will be going to jail for a LONG time and won’t be able to babble like an idiot in public.
To me, that’s why he’s guilty.
He just couldn’t stay out of the spotlight and not say something stupid that twisted the knives in the backs of his victims’ families.
Granted, I’ve read things about the Brown family that are somewhat disturbing but I didn’t have a doubt in my mind after the evidence came out about the spousal abuse that OJ did it.
I actually read “If I Did It” some months ago and the descriptions of the murders by the “alleged killer” were chilling to say the least and written as if the killer were in a dazed or drug-fueled fugue. The sheer rage of the murders was chilling. The narrative of the book was narcissistic and self-serving.
Suffice it to say that after the ‘95 trial I haven’t been able to see the “Naked Gun” that same way I did prior to 1994 and regard OJ’s co-stars supportive statements as generally naive or self-serving…
Posted by on 10/04 at 04:44 AMYeah. I’ll watch Police Squad! on DVD, but never the Naked Gun movies (or Capricorn One for that matter), thanks a hell of a lot OJ. He definitely ruined that for me.
Something tells me that he’ll live a comfortable life in the Pen due to his sports celebrity status. I also hope OJ does NOT convert to Islam while he’s in the slammer.See Ya, OJ!

A weary and somber Simpson released a heavy sigh as the charges were read by the clerk in Clark County District Court. He was immediately taken into custody.”

IIRC most of the time, when found guilty, defendants must appeal from jail.
Unless, of course, he gets a liberal judge to grant bail while awaiting appeal.Posted by on 10/04 at 04:40 PMYeah, I read that afterward. He’s going to be hating it. I hear the Clark County Jail is no fun. The LA County Jail has special cells for celebrities. I don’t think they have them in Vegas.
Posted by on 10/04 at 09:42 PMI hate to say this, but it’s a good thing then that OJ didn’t do this stuff in Maricopa County. Sheriff Joe would’ve asked him to perform for the inmates (or something similar), kinda like Glen Campbell did when he spent some time in the pokey.
