Hello, Lefties
Oops. Another bad Iraq myth brutally shot down. Al Qaeda and Saddam did have a connection.
The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans.
Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein’s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the “high-value detainee programme” at Guantanamo Bay.
A lot of myths being told by the left will inevitably be shot down. Hopefully before they manage to turn Iraq into another Vietnam style withdrawal.
Gee, I wonder why I only read this on the bottom space of CNN as one of those scrolling news text and not as a big huge news report like another recent Iraq bombing they’re doing.

Posted by on 04/28 at 11:00 AMThat seems like a weak connection. A former Iraqi officer turned terrorist. If it were shown that he continued to communicate with Sadaam or one of his subordinates, after he joined Al Quaida (sp?), that would be one thing.
The real danger to this war was that Bush and his people underestimated the need for Americans to understand why we are fighting this war. There were a bunch of other mistakes, but I think that one is key.
Minor connections between Sadaam and terror organizations, or the discovery of a few vats of chemicals aren’t going to turn around public opinion.

But there were plenty of documents found in various Sadam agencies buildings that told of a connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam’s government. They had meetings of some kind and aid was provided through an intermediary.
But stuff like this has been baldy reported by the administration. Like his father, Bush seems to think he just has to justify himself a few times and people have to go along with it. The administration could so a much better job of communicating with the public. If they did, Bush’s approval rating wouldn’t be so low.
