Here’s Your Global Warming

Check out this graphic of the earth’s climate over time. Gee, did they have SUVs back in the Sabretooth and Dinosaur era, too? My my.

Looks like a cycle to me.

This climatologist explains what the GW movement is all about.

We really should get off fossil fuels for a lot of reasons, including the wars they are funding and causing. But GW is BS. Let’s focus on constructive change and not economically hazardous, bureaucratically driven nonsense.

UPDATE: Solar activity increases global temperatures. Surprise!

Another thing that comes in cycles, lies from the NY Times. This article is from 1933.

  1. Nice random unreferenced data.  But looking at it, surely we’ve recently already experienced a rapid rise in temperature, say about 20000 years ago.  From this trend, shouldn’t things be cooling down, if anything?

    “But GW is BS”

Stop spouting info like your an expert Hud.  Chumps that frequent here might think you are.  Everything is still so spectulative that it is irresponsible to make out that you are right despite your obvious hate of those who think otherwise.  You’re coming across as some kid in the playground that just wants to pick a fight about a topic because you don’t like the other kid who bought it up in the first place.

Many of the anti-GW experts have thing in common - they claim that there is “no evidence” that we’re responsible.  Another way of staying we’re unable to find conclusive evidence with the current state of measurement techniques.  On the other hand, those who believe claim that “it is likely” that we are responsible.

We don’t know yet.  I will remain a sceptic but that doesn’t mean I’ll shoot down initiatives that aim to clean up this planet.  Sure you might think that it could be a waste of money and costs lots of jobs, but it is a bet I’m happy to take.  And it sure beats the ridiculous ways we’ve been wasting money in the past.

  2. Jeremy,

If they made a reasonable statement like you just did, then I would be less inclined to bash the subject. Theories don’t bother me until people start imposing them and taxing people and getting critics fired for not towing the line. All based on maybes.

To me, it’s simple science. Can you tell me what the volume of the earth’s atmosphere is?
Can you tell me what the force levels are of wind and climate across the globe?

No? Neither can I. Neither can they. Which is why it’s the height of irresponsibility for them to make these obnoxious claims and demand action and taxes and an entire lifestyle change.

The fact is, the earth’s climate is always in a state of flux and always will be. Considering that the chart I posted (the source URL is referenced in the graphic) shows the cycle, and the fact that we are in a period of increased solar activity, Occam’s Razor.

  3. Jeremy,

I must say that someone who knows nothing about me calling me a “chump” leaves me disinclined to listen to his viewpoint - let alone agree with it.

If you believe a GW threat is possible, and that it can be avoided, well, you’re going to have to frame your argument better.
