Hip Hop is Dead, Part 2
I think the best sign that rap is dead, apart from plummeting record sales, is that the people who parody rap almost always do it better than the people who do it seriously.
If rap was so ‘original’ rappers wouldn’t follow such a constant pattern.
1st couple of albums: All about how tough, and ‘ghetto’ they are.
2nd batch of albums: Bragging about how rich they are.
3rd batch: Trying to reclaim their street cred with over the top ‘gangsta’ posing because no one wants to buy an album where all the songs about their Ferrari collection.
