How to Waste Money the Hollywood Way
Anti-war movies have never been big money makers. Just as the anti-war movement has never been that big, except in their minds. They were supposed to be at their peak in the early 70s when Vietnam was still going. Yet their W of the day, Richard Nixon, was reelected by a landslide.
Still believing their own hype as they advance into old age, the baby boomer peaceniks are getting a shot of reality as they try to make America look bad with War on Terror films.
The wave of recent films set against the backdrop of war in Iraq and post-9/11 security has failed to win over film-goers keen to escape grim news headlines when they go to the movies, analysts say.
In a break with past convention, when films based on real conflicts were made only years after the last shots were fired, several politically-charged films have gone on release while America remains embroiled in Iraq.
Almost without exception, however, the crop of movies have struggled to turn a profit at the box-office and in many cases have received a mauling from unimpressed critics as well.
No one is biting because they can hear this crap for free on any MSM channel. It’s not a popular message there, either. Fox News is the one news channel that actually issues positive stories about the war, when it has some, and they are doing much better than the failing CNN and the moribund MSNBC.
Anti-war rallies have been weak lately. And things are starting to look better in Iraq. So negativity just ain’t selling.
Besides, it’s a rule of thumb that negativity isn’t popular. People want to hear good news, not bad. They want to see us win, not lose.
Too many Hollywood types are addicted to depression. Paranoia and self righteousness are not qualities people find appealing in others, yet it seems to be stock in trade with Gulfstream liberal film makers.
Not only is their message redundant and unoriginal, it’s not even selling. The public already made up its mind and they don’t need a bunch of people with zero credibility telling them what the “truth” is.
By the way, Bush only has a year and six weeks left. Hopefully we won’t have to wait that long before Hollywood gets a clue.
you need to get a clue. You are a lousy writer.
“Anti-war rallies have weak lately.”
“its a rule of thumb” IT’S kiddo
“Gulfstream liberal film makers” what does Gulfstream even mean here?
“No one is biting because they can hear this crap for free on any MSM channel. It’s not a popular message there, either.” Wow you can’t even see the contradiction in your own writing?
“it’s not seven selling”
Time to hire a copy editor. Dear god you are loser.
Posted by on 11/10 at 11:20 PMNot an original thought on my part but it seems that mostly the hollywierd types make movies to impress each other and get laid. How many Hollyweird movies made by ultra libs actually make money? I haven’t sat all the way through a Hollywierd movie since “Dances With Wolves”. The last hollywierd POS I tried to watch was “Lost in Translation”. After half an hour of unintelligable garbage I walked out and demanded my money back. Got it, too. The next day I spent it on a six movie pack of John Wayne DVD’s, something I could actually make heads and tails of and enjoy into the bargain. Fuck Hollywierd and the scrawny nags they rode in on.
Posted by on 11/10 at 11:25 PMHi James,
My brother is named James. No one calls him Jim. Ever since as a baby, we always say James, not Jim.
How about you? Do you ever go under the name of Jim? I think it was cool if you don’t.
I was peaked in interest about your blog from a post that linked here. I really like your writing no matter what that guy says.
Who is the expert on this issue anyways. The writer or the reader?
Posted by Cliff on 11/11 at 08:23 AMI used to go by Jim but my dad is named Jim and its one of the most common names in America. So I go by James because less people go by that. I’ve been at a few jobs where there were so many Jim’s it helps to stand apart.
Thanks that link. Now I know where all these jerks are coming from.

Gulfstream Liberal is a common term these days. It refers to lefties who fly around in personal Gulfstream Jets while lecturing everyone about global warming.
Posted by on 11/11 at 09:34 AMI just deleted the salvage comments because he ignored my rules and kept with the insults. If people want to comment on here, they have to either be civil or be deleted and banned.
I don’t have to waste my time with trolls and tools.
Posted by on 11/12 at 10:04 AMHow odd, the first comment is also rather insulting to you yet it remains.
Could it be that between my “insults” I conclusively demonstrated that you were wrong about “Anti-war movies have never been big money makers.”?
Nah, that can’t be it.
Loser.
Posted by salvage on 11/13 at 05:54 AMNo, it’s because I recognize a childish and abusive personality when I see one. It’s pointless to debate someone like you. It won’t go anywhere except down to your level.
I can take insults. But I don’t have to. You’re on my turf. If you can’t act like an adult, you can leave.
