Japanese Pushers
They’ve been doing this since the 1970s.
Reminds me of my visit to NYC when my brother took me to the subway, and just before we got on he said “This is how pigs live!
Posted by Brock Townsend on 05/12 at 09:50 AMI managed to avoid those guys ever since my first few months in Japan. I learned which subway lines to avoid at which times of the day. But I did end up so jammed in a train once I missed my stop and had to ride back a few stations. And another time I got myself out, but my briefcase remained inside, wedged between passengers (being Japan, it was turned in, untouched, at the lost and found less than an hour later).
At least these days the stations and cars are air-conditioned. When I was first there, it was hell. I just about passed out on the Marunouchi line once.Posted by on 05/12 at 02:36 PM
