No One Likes a Scold

Al Gore is set to host a huge concert called Live Earth, which some are calling the biggest show ever. With it, he thinks a host of self righteous, uneducated celebrities are going to convince the rest of us to believe in hornswaggle.

Critics have argued the 24-hour spectacular - featuring more than 150 acts including Madonna, Lily Allen, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas and Jack Johnson - will do more for the stars’ careers than raising awareness of climate change.

But Gore will use it to urge people to sign a seven-point pledge calling on governments to agree, within two years, an international treaty that cuts global warming pollution by 90 per cent in developed countries and by more than half worldwide. It also asks people to cut their own pollution, make their homes, businesses, schools and transport more energy efficient, and plant new trees and preserve forests.

With its rapid economic growth and soaring carbon emissions, China is regarded as a crucial target for this message. Kevin Wall, the executive producer of Live Earth, has succeeded where he did not two years ago as a co-organiser of Live8, the centrepiece of the Make Poverty History campaign.

‘We’re on Chinese TV with 800 million people, ‘ he told The Observer. ‘People often think on a parochial basis, so it’s vital to be there. We’ve got to talk and make the whole world listen.’

Not only are his goals unrealistic, they are detrimental to humanity. A lot more detrimental than even his own climate change predictions, which are laughable.

In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, “We must stop tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of intentionally clouding the public’s ability to discern the truth.” Gore repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing as the central focus of public discourse.

And that’s precisely what Al Gore does. Everything he suggests we “stop doing”. Like a typical elite, he wants us to stop doing what he does with the abandon of a Bacchanalian.

This guy is scary stupid. The inverse of scary smart. What makes him scary is, in spite of his stupidity, he manages to make believers out of a host of dim witted ideologues who don’t bother to actually check the facts of what he’s saying. Of course, the media shares some responsibility for his success. Even though it’s their job to check facts, they don’t even bother. Such as CNN’s appalling article where they back up Sicko. While hiding behind weasel words to mask their actually uncertainty.

What he calsl for is the collapse of civilization, the destruction of economies which will result in wars, chaos and famine. Untold misery.

Rather than suggest we adapt to climate change, he has the arrogant notion that we can magically change the weather by shutting down our factories and stop using cars. All this based on no solid scientific evidence.

And how does he propose to change people’s minds, to get them to come along with this mad scheme? Why, throw a rock concert and give a lot of lectures!

See what I mean about scary stupid?

  1. Indeed. The cover of my TV Guide this week has Melissa Etheridge pimping the upcoming concert. I had to laugh when she was quoted inside as saying she doesn’t know much about the details of global warming, she leaves that to brilliant thinkers like Gore. But she’s willing to contribute whatever talent she has to help the cause.

I would go see the concert since I like most of the acts listed, and just tune out the ridiculous message they are trying to send. I wonder how many people are there just for the music and how many think they are really changing the world. In the end it’s all a bunch of futile posturing, people trying to feel better about themselves more than anything else.

  2. Environmentalist are such profligate liars they make Tobacco Execs look like Abe Lincoln.
Recently here in CA they said they were not concerned about the mercury in CFLs because it was “minuscule.” Excuse me, but since when did the fact that a “scary pollutant” is only present in minuscule quantities every stop them from pitching a fit?  You watch: ten years from now, after the legislation has taken effect and CFLs are required, they’ll suddenly start screaming and yelling about the mercury contamination in the landfills and demand a $1 tax on each bulb sold for cleanup purposes.
I’ll take that bet with anyone.

  3. It’s all about the MONEY.  Now, swarms of LAWYERS are poised to start suing whoever they can over GW.

Gore is making money off his stupid carbon credits and is poised to run for president again.

    God help us.
