Oh, Shut Up
A book and website tells us what would happen after humans. This is to show us what an impact we’re having. In other words: FEEL GUILTY!
If there were no humans, who would care? These kinds of arguments make me laugh, but they’re also interesting to read.
Amen.
“If a tree falls on a desert island and no one hears it, does it make a noise?” Not just for Ivory Tower philosophers any more.
If you want to see what life is like with no humans, visit what is called a “climax pine forest.” This is when nature has spun all the dials and the forest is done. It’s the deadest place you’ll ever visit, and it will continue just like that, in stasis, until it’s covered by the next ice age. The question is: who cares? Most life on the Earth is a mindless seething of birth-eat-reproduce-die-repeat. Forever. Sure, other living things come along and replace the existing ones from time to time, but that’s just re-skinning the OS.
Intelligent creatures have a dim understanding of the universe, but a rabbit doesn’t know much. Even a chimp is largely unaware of life outside its direct experience. Only humans dream and do. In time, all life on Earth...indeed, all life in the Universe...will be destroyed. Humans are the only hope to stop that.
Humans are the best thing that ever happened to life.Posted by on 08/31 at 01:27 PMOther than the first few of those boxes, it’s all complete speculation. There are no millions of years in the past to use for example, so how can anyone predict millions of years in the future?
I’d say the only reliable history book - the Bible - is clear about what will happen to the earth in the end times.
