Fat Chance

So now they’re claiming overweight people are contributing Global Warming.

Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says.

This adds to food shortages and higher energy prices, the school’s researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in the journal Lancet on Friday.

“We are all becoming heavier and it is a global responsibility,” Edwards said in a telephone interview. “Obesity is a key part of the big picture.”

They always start with the needling, then they move to legislation, then they start banning things. And all over a theory which is unproven and in fact, worthy of massive skepticism.

World food prices and shortages have to do with a series of crop problems in certain countries mixed with the absurd demand for corn for fuel. Next season may amend the shortages, since it was all based on weather. But of course, they will blame that on global warming again. It’s a convenient excuse for everything these days. See above.

Don’t these boobs have some illnesses to cure or something better to do with thier time?  The once noble medical profession gets a little less noble.

Yeah, maybe they could start by adjusting their statistics for the last few downward changes in the official BMI chart, then checking to see if there is, in fact, an “epidemic” of obesity.  If there is an unexplained increase, then they might look for hidden causes, rather than simply saying “we eat too much bad food.” We’ve been doing that for 30 years.  What’s changed?  They have no idea, because they’re not looking.  Also, if they want to claim it’s an “epidemic,” they they need to look for an communicable disease or environmental cause, otherwise it doesn’t fit the definition.  But if they don’t call it an “epidemic,” then it doesn’t come under their bailiwick and they would not get funding and power.  Imagine that.

Yeah, notice it’s all based on the bogus BMI which makes athletes obese because muscle weighs more than fat, therefore body builders and people in shape are contributing to global warming.

I would love to see health nuts come out against this crap. But they won’t until they are targeted too.

Not only that, but the last surgeon general of the US wanted to give people who met the new BMI target weight a $1000 tax “refund.” So, me, with my over-the-BMI weight and inexplicably excellent health, will be fined.  The anorexic, diseased meth heads I see downtown, however, will get a grand to blow on crystal.  Great. 
On the other hand, getting their claws on a a $1000 worth of ice to indulge in may be the last thing they ever do.
