Quote of the Day
“It’s ironic that a field based on challenging unproven theories attacks skeptics in a very unhealthy way.”
The Man Made Global Warming is not scientific. It is ideology. And the people pushing this idea down our throat act like religious zealots.
But I’ll bet some people in New York wishes there were Global Warming right now.
UPDATE: A good article on Climate fanatics
The pernicious thing about ideology is there exists no room for logical counter-arguments.

Posted by on 02/12 at 12:19 PMThe only place I disagree is that it is not a “concerted effort” rather than a general perception. In the utility industry we have known for years that this was one area where public opinion dictates the science and policy rather than the other way around. Also, it is not GW people causing this. Its just people being people.
And can’t really blame the public either. Seeing a brown haze over Denver or inhaling diesel fumes behind a big truck is unappealing. Whereas trees and fresh air is nice. That is what is driving this movement, not science.
People don’t know the difference between pollution and GW. They don’t understand the difference between different pollutants such as CO2, relatively benign, and Mercury, very toxic. They don’t understand the difference between man-made global warming and global warming. They don’t know where electricity comes from…but they think it is clean. Oil is bad. Solar is good, big business is evil! and so on.
Boiling it all down…this is all they know. Pollution=bad=GW. Nothing is science here. It is a natural mix of something tangible and gross (pollution) tied onto something abstract and evil (GW). Like the war in Iraq, as long as you don’t get into the details, the argument is foolproof.
In the utility industry we learning quickly how to roll with these punches and try to help policy makers make this transition towards renewables and clean coal as painless as possible. Mainly by promoting incentives, such as Renewable Energy Bonds as opposed to federal mandates such as the Kyoto Treaty or RPS. But its not easy. Personally, I think that as long as the zealots can be contained, and the policy maker can be informed, this whole crazy movement could actually make our world a better place to live.
Posted by on 02/12 at 12:57 PMWell, I am all for getting off oil. But I am not for fascism of any kind and that is what we seem to be heading toward with Climate Extremeists.
You’re right that people don’t understand what’s what. Which is a shame. Which is why I try to do my part to break it down. Which is why the GW shills try to discredit anyone who dares disagree.
