Reading Potter

I am to busy packing and getting ready for my move, which is no fun in the Vegas heat. I have to do a lot of it in my garage where I am sorting through what I am keeping and giving/throwing away. But I did get the Harry Potter book yesterday and I’m about 100 pages into it so far. I probably won’t be able to finish it until I’ve moved. But I’m enjoying it. It’s very fast pacd and promises a lot of action.

  1. I bought the book and a copy of the unabridged audiobook, because I read much too fast so there was hope the CDs would slow me down some.  They did.  The last of the 17 CDs was just finished late this afternoon.  For me this last visit to the wizarding world of Harry was very satisfying.

By the way, I really enjoyed the audiobook experience.  Part of the time I held the book and followed the words, sometimes I just listened, and then at other times I completed my daily chores.  For me the $60 boxed set of CDs was well worth the expense.

  2. Glad to hear it. I thought about getting those for my long drive up north but the person riding with me doesn’tr care for those books.

  3. Too early to discuss the book, maybe in a week or two.
In the meantime, I’m pissed at Scholastic for selling me a $35 hardcover with a GLUED SPINE.  I checked a couple dozen hardcovers on my shelf and even the cheapo book club hardcovers have a sewn spine.  My copy of Deathly Hallows is already cracking, which is not surprising as glued spines are meant to be reinforced by a cardstock cover.
    Bad Scholastic.  No cookie.

  4. You’re right! I noticed it when you told me.

I think they did that because so many were discounting the crap ouyt of these books, there may have been a request from the book industry to lower the cost. Or maybe because the book is mass produced they could get them out faster this way. Who knows.

I am one third into it now. Good read so far.
