RIP Dave Stevens

Huge shocker for me,. I just found out about this. Dave Stevens is dead from lukemia. Age 52.

He’s best known as the artist who created the Rocketeer, which was a Disney Movie back in the 90s. He was an incredibly great comics artist who I knew back in the 80s. Haven’t seen in a long time. He seemed like a nice guy. He was a friend of many of my friends.

Sorry to hear another one has gone this year.

2. A shock, indeed.  Last time I saw him he was his usual picture of handsome, vibrant health.  I can’t believe he’s gone.  He was a truly talented and original artist, and a genuinely nice guy.
   Only the good die young....

3. He was one of those people who are so good looking and talented, you expect them to be around forever.

   It’s weird to know he won’t be around anymore. He was a fixture at every con I went to back in the day.

   I remember being at a party at comics writer Bruce Jone’s house in the early 80s, and telling a ghost story and Stevens was really spooked by it. That was beforre I became a writer. It helped convince me I had some storytelling skills.
