Rock Out

This looks like a 70s video, but I can’t tell if its real or not. The 70s is self parody.

UPDATE: Some of the worst cover songs of all time. And the worst videos of all time.

  1. I think it’s a real 70’s video because none of the girls have implants.

  2. True.

The Ventures did that song, but I don’t know what they looked like.

  3. The web address listed in the video is for a hard core porn site. I vote for recent vintage. I will admit to owning a suede coat with the fringes, like the guitar player is wearing, in the early seventies.

  4. I will also add that there is a name on the front of the drums. I can’t quite make out the first part but the second word appears to be band. At any rate it is not the Ventures.

  5. I’m mixed on this one. I agree with Bannod’s assessment, and I’d also like to add that those “squaw” dancers were either white or black, no political correctness there.
That said, the producers may have intentionally casted girls with no implants.

  6. We’re not the only ones wondering about this band:

  7. Okay, mystery solved.  The group is the Tommy Seedach Band.  The song is “Apache”, covered by The Ventures in 1962.

This, from Wikipedia - “In 1977 a disco-styled music video of “Apache” featured The Tommy Seebach Band. Set on a rocky hillside, it featured scantily-clad dancers adoring a grinning keyboard player. This version was recognized for its kitsch value and made the rounds of the Internet in early 2005. It is widely considered the worst music video of all time.”

  8. Thanks. I don’t think its the worse of all time however. I will post a link to those today.

  9. That Steven Seagal song wasn’t bad at all.

  11. There are very few covers I like better than the originals. Two of them that I can name off the top of my head are:

“Funkytown” by Pseudo Echo (the original Lipps, Inc. version just GRATES), and
“Lean On Me” by Club Nouveau.

  12. This Tommy Seebach guy and his band are available on iTunes. Fortunately, not this song.

  13. I prefer the original Funky Town. It’s so campy. Plus, I was like 20 or so when it came out.
