People are having a lot of fun with Google Maps new street photos, which seem to only be of San Francisco so far. Here’s one of a guy coming out of a strip club.
hey have vabs driving down streets taking pictures which let you see the street level shots of the buildings. But people get in the pictures, of course and some of them might be embarrassing. I wonder how long before the lawsuits start?

  1. Are they really using vans to capture these images?  Because I know that with the right tools and aerial/satellite imagery of high enough quality you can create 3D products such as those used in Google’s Street View.  It’s time consuming, but certainly far less so than trying to capture the same data from the ground.

  2. I read a year or so ago, on Drudge (who has a Google obsession, it seems) that this is what they were doing. Now’re we see the results. These were street level shots. But yeah, they can see license plates from space. They could since the 80s.
