Snow and Fog
Just got back from my Xmas break. I drove down to see my dad in California on Sunday. It’s an 11 hour drive so I’m bushed. On the way back it was kind of funny. When I left it wa raining as as soon as I crossed into California it was sunny. On the way back, it was perfect weather. But as I neared Oregon I could see rain clouds. And as I passed Mt Shasta and Weed, California (yes, that’s the name) it wa sunny by snow was on the ground. As soon as I crossed into Oregon, it was snowing and foggy. Fortunately, the roads were clear. Southern Oregon was getting lots of snow but once I came down from the high elevations, it was raining most of the way.
Gotta love those Oregon winters.
It was nice down south. My dad has a vineyard and small winery in Sonoma County. I always like going back to see my hometown and the beautiful Sonoma countryside, though Oregon and Washington are nothing to sneeze at.
Anyway, back to work tomorrow. I have a lot of exiting stuff in the pipe that I will be talking about soon.
I’ve seen that effect, too. I’ve lived in Salem for almost 20 years, but I was from Tahoe before that and have driven I5 MANY MANY times. Always the same transition between Ashland and Yreka. In the summer, you’ll see it change from green in Oregon to brown on the California side. Weird…

The variety of California is wonderful. Oregon and Washington are nice and green, but it seems like it’s always wet and gray. It’s nice on a clear day to go into Portland and see Hood, St. Helens, and Adams. But it just seems so rarely clear and sunny.
