The Dems aren’t for Real
Playing politics with people’s lives is something the Democrats like to accuse the Republicans of doing. But the same Democrats who keep giving Bush money to fight the war, while decrying it all the time, are trying to undermine any report that comes out of Iraq, which might be positive. Especially the upcoming one from General Petraeus. For once we have an effective general there, so naturally, he’s a threat to the peace poseurs.
Congressional Democrats are trying to undermine U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus’ credibility before he delivers a report on the Iraq war next week, saying the general is a mouthpiece for President Bush and his findings can’t be trusted.
“The Bush report?” Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin said when asked about the upcoming report from Gen. Petraeus, U.S. commander in Iraq.
“We know what is going to be in it. It’s clear. I think the president’s trip over to Iraq makes it very obvious,” the Illinois Democrat said. “I expect the Bush report to say, ‘The surge is working. Let’s have more of the same.’ “
The top Democrats — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California — also referred to the general’s briefing as the “Bush report.”
These kind of politics over getting things done is what has bankrupted the Democrats. And these kind of games is the very thing that encourages and emboldens our enemies. They mistake the Democrats cynical selfishness as being on their side. But the Democrats always say one thing and do another.
It’s no wonder Congress has an approval rating much lower than Bush’s. At least the President is consistent.
The Petraeus confirmation vote:

19 - Not voting

Durbin - Yea
Feinstein - Yea

OMFG ... you GOT to be kidding !!!
Posted by on 09/06 at 11:55 PMIraq is falling apart. There is no political stability there. Surge or no surge, it makes no difference. The police are defecting, there is genecide taking place.
The problems in Iraq are not ones that we can solve with more troops. We destroyed the country and we cant put it back together again.
Only the Iraqis can solve their issues. And so far, they have not been willing to.
Posted by on 09/07 at 04:57 AMIraq isn’t falling apart. It’s the same mess its always been. A dictator was the only thing holding it together. All we did is give people there more freedom to screw it up.
That said, there has been a lot of progress made. And if you deny it you deny reality. I know people who have been there for years, and they tell me what they see. I trust what they say more than your anti-war websites.
Posted by on 09/07 at 09:29 AMYeah, those anti-war websites such as the Government Accountability Office. Those Nazi radicals in the GAO must be at it again.
As for deniying the reality of Iraq progress. Does that mean you feel that there is no genocide taking place? Does that mean you think it is politicaly stable?
Posted by on 09/07 at 11:05 AMIf you think we’re committing genocide then I’d say your the one who’s unstable.
Posted by on 09/07 at 12:22 PMTestify, did you read the GAO report? Not the cherry-picked, out-of-context bleeding chunks the MSM chose to feed you, but the real thing? They felt that, overall it was a success. I’m sure you’re shocked and appalled the MSM would mislead you, but don’t cry.
You might want to read this, or perhaps not.
