The Joys of Socialism

All these socialist paradises just can’t abide by free will. Note to lefties: This is what fascism really looks like. This is where you end up when you go too far to the left.

A North Korean factory boss accused of making international phone calls was executed by a firing squad in front of 150,000 people, it emerged today.

The manager was gunned down in a sports stadium in South Pyongan province after authorities claimed he’d installed 13 in a basement to reach the outside world, the Good Friends aid agency revealed.

And six people were also crushed to death and 34 others injured in an apparent stampede as they left after the execution, it was claimed.

The factory chief’s death last month came as executions in the communist dictatorship began increasing after a seven-year decline in the number of people publicly killed.

North Korea had faced a barrage of international criticism over claims it has executed many innocent people.

and North Korea is socialist how? 

dictatorships are neither left nor right.  they may have the adjective in front of them, but they are all totalitarian.

no liberal condones actions like this.  i mean really.

Uh...do you know anything about socialism? The world’s most totalitarian states were/are all socialist. Saddam Hussein ran a socialist dictatorship. So does Fidel Castro. So did Joseph Stalin. Ditto Robert Mugabe. Hugo Chavez is turning his country into one. So is Putin in Russia. North Korea is socialist. It’s a well known fact if you bother to look it up.

You’re right about one thing.  liberalism and leftism are antithetical to each other. Liberalism rejects stateism and authoritarianism. Leftism embraces it. You may see yourself as a leftist, but you are more on the liberal side if you reject authoritarianism. However, if you cheer on laws that deny people the right to do things like smoke or own guns, you are more authoritarian than you think.

By the way, being critical of left wing nuttiness does not make me right wing. Criticism doesn’t equal politics.

yeah, i know a little about socialism.  calling any dictatorship leftist because it started out that way just seems to be an easy way to label it.  that’s all i meant.

they are all bad, in my view.  too far left, too far right, neither can be good.  i didn’t say you were right wing at all, but i don’t see you taking on right wing nuttiness that abounds these days (i.e. Rove saying it’s Congress’ fault for the war in Iraq being the mess it is).

I don’t pick on Bush because everyone else does. I hate to sound like an echo.

But I also don’t hate the administration. I think they made a lot of big mistakes and are wrong about a lot of things. But people comparing them to Hitler is why I posted this snarky bit. There is a huge difference between the Bush admins ham handedness and Saudi Arabia sentencing a woman to 200 lashes because she was raped.

Sadly, a lot of the liberal talking heads aren’t familiar with Godwin’s Law...otherwise, they know they’d’ve just lost the argument.
