The Latest GW Scam

Having been to Russia and Belarus, I can attest to the fact that in the former Soviet states they do not have suburban sprawl.  They have everyone compressed into apartment blocks, which have tiny apartments with centralized heating in the form of radiators. You can’t control the temperature. They turn it on in the winter and the heat you get is the heat they distribute. It all comes from a centralized place. They do something similar in some Scandinavian countries, like Denmark where my father visited some of our relatives once. I’m sure environmentalists would think this is a great idea. But this is because socialists want to tell people where they can live. And governments only want to give people as little as possible. In fact, in Russia and Belarus, the you have to get permission from the government to get a new place.

Which really must appeal to the crypto-Marxists in California, because they are trying to steer the state in that direction. Their excuse? Why, global warming, of course.

California is pioneering what could be the next battleground against global warming: filing suit to hold cities and counties accountable for greenhouse gas emissions caused by poorly planned suburban sprawl.

The unprecedented action is being closely watched by states that have taken aggressive steps to combat climate change — including New York, Massachusetts and Washington.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown has sued San Bernardino County, the USA’s largest in land area and one of the fastest growing, for failing to account for greenhouse gases when updating its 25-year blueprint for growth.

“It’s ground-breaking. California is just leading the way for other states and jurisdictions that will ultimately follow,” says Richard Frank of the Center for Environmental Law and Policy at the University of California-Berkeley.

Gosh, he sounds breathless, like he is having a waking wet dream. How creepy is that?

Here in Vegas, the new developments are so crammed together, many houses have no drive ways. The srievway is part of the sidewalk. That’s it. And other developments have three houses sharing one drive way. Two face inward and one faces the street. And of course they are building these fancy condo towers which are luxury versions of the Soviet complexes.

When I was a kid, houses came with a big yard front and back. Now, they come with a tiny yard, if you get one at all. And houses are practically touching. Your window look into another persons house. I can understand that in a place like Manhattan or San Francisco, but they want to make this the norm everywhere. In fact, they are obviously getting really excited about the idea. And of course, they are trying to sue people to get money in the process.

I’m telling you, this global warming nonsense is going to lead to one outrage after another. They are going to try to use it to take awa a lot of our choices. Forget the war on terror. Anything the Patriot Act has done is nothing compared to what these creeps are on about.

  1. Heh.

Those Soviet blocks look like public housing.

    Cabrini-Green even.

I guess only the rich elites like Laurie David will have a choice anymore?

  2. Remember the housing in Soylent Green? Only the rich and “important” people had decent living space.

Another reason I am so glad I live in a very small town.

  3. They are public housing. Except public housing in the US is a lot nicer than in Russia. I have been to several apartment blocs here and in Belarus. Trust me.

Except, I don’t think the crime is as bad. They are just run down.

They do have people with regular houses, but those people are rich. Or they live in the country or villages.

Yes, small towns are looking better all the time (I am a small town guy myself, even though I have lived mostly in big cities).
