The Reality of Reality: James Randi

Human Beings want to believe in some thing. They need to believe in something. They feel a lack of security of there isn’t some kind of faith in their lives. The secularists often turn to leftist ideas, which can become as irrational as cult beliefs. And we all know about how deranged some religions can get and the dark places it can take its followers. The Heaven’s Gate cult and Jim Jones are two examples out of many.

People will willingly give up their money or even their lives, all because a charlatan managed to convince them to believe in a big lie. And once that happens, people are easily led astray. And even worse, become resistant to others who try make them see the truth. Many people become stubborn and willfully ignorant once they cross the line into delusion. Their pride and ego don’t want them to let go of the lie, which comforts them in some strange way.

Unscrupulous people have known this for ages and have gotten rich and powerful manipulating and lying to others. Therefore, when someone who knows these tricks can somehow debunk the fakes, hey are a true hero. One such person is James Randi. Here are some excerpts from a show about his work debunking frauds.

Randi is a magician who started going on TV shows in the 70s to reveal the tricks so called psychics were using. Back then there were a lot of people coming on shows claiming they had some kind of powers and these TV shows would act like they believed them. This is very bad for a number of reasons. But it shows how easily people are tricked. This is why I am constantly bashing things like man-made global warming on here. To me, it’s another example of magical thinking. But we can get into that later.

For now, herrrrre’s Randi.
