The Spirit Teaser
Frank Miller’s Sprint movie teaser is shown here. It looks more like Miller than Will Eisner. But we’ll see how well he pulls it off. Next year.
They used the theme from the Costner/Connery “Untouchables”...and it fits real well.
Looks good, too.

This does NOT look like Will Eisner’s Spirit. The whole tone of the trailer is wrong, too. Feels more like The Dark Knight Returns mixed in with Sin City.
Man, oh man, has Miller lost it… Or he never really had it to begin with and has been inconsistent at best—which is what I’ve always felt.
And yes, I’ve read the Archives and Kitchen Sink Press reprints.
It’s a darn shame. A fairly faithful adaptation of The Spirit could and should have been done.
I’m afraid what we’re getting is Spirit Remixed in the Sin City fashion or an abomination like “I’m the Goddamn Spirit”!
Sort of like how Miller’s All-Star Batman is really not Batman at all…
Posted by on 04/21 at 08:45 AMYes, it seems more Miller (the cliched, later era Miller) than Will Eisner. Eisner’s stuff was not in black and white, also. It was one of the rare color comics of its time. A color insert in the papers. And while Miller was heavily influenced by Eisner’s storytelling, from what I see, it’s typical Miller stuff, no Eisner feel at all.
I’ll see what he does before judging it too harshly, but I am not buying what I see here.
