Universe in a Test Tube
Did scientists prove unifying theory and create a baby universe in a test tube? Is our universe an experiment by scientists in an uber-universe?
Nah, the universe is an incredibly massive multi-player online roleplaying game (IMMORPG). Though we did have to do a complete re-boot around 1963 (the guy who served as President of the United States in that simulation got the Soviets really ticked (Kennedy died in the Pacific, while Nixon became a Quaker minister), which ruined play for a lot of people, actual and virtual). This time around there are people talking about cutting this short once the new collider at Cern Switzerland comes online, and starting from scratch all over again. This time around we’re going to see what happens when you virtuals evolve a stronger tendency to individual initiative.
